So, Is Operation Chokehold Melting AT&T In Your Area?
Posted on December 18, 2009 | No CommentsIt’s just after 12 o’clock here on the left coast, which means Operation Chokehold should now be in full effect. What that means (if anything at all) is still up in the air — which is why we’re turning to you for a status report. For the uninitiated: Operation Chokehold is a sort of cyber-protest against [...] -
Wrestling and boxing gong-shaped alarm clocks test your reaction time
Posted on November 19, 2009 | No Comments
Japan and its alarm clocks. We just blogged the bizarre Clockman on Monday, but major Japanese toy maker Banpresto's two new models aren't too normal either. The company has designed alarm clocks using wrestling and boxing gongs as the design motif. The idea actually kind of makes sense but is cruel at the same time.

More Vibram Five Fingers information than you particularly require
Posted on October 29, 2009 | No Comments
We at CrunchGear are rarely at the forefront of fashion. However, once I reviewed the Vibram Five Fingers I knew I was onto something. Thankfully, there are other people out there who don't think my love for foot gloves is not strange or weird. In fact, people wear these crazy shoes everywhere they go!
Take a look at BirthdayShoes.com. Editor Justin Owings gets testimonials from all over the world including folks who have run marathons in these things and other folks who stand around in India wearing them. Heck, even Sergey Brin is down.
Video after the jump.

Spooky sounds from your Telecaster
Posted on October 28, 2009 | No Comments
Do not adjust your computer because Bill Ruppert has put together a nice set of sound effects using only EHX pedals and some creativity. I love how he makes a clock sound with just the pick-up switch and then adds in some bells for spooky effect.

Review: AKAI LPK 25
Posted on October 22, 2009 | No CommentsI love my keyboard. It is actually a synthesizer, an Alesis micron but I use it as a midi controller. The only problem is I have it in the rehearsal room(s) all the time. So what if I have to work on some music at home? I have to carry that big bunch of plastic from the rehearsal room to the flat and back three times a week. Why not buy a midi keyboard just for home use? No money, no space, no lust. Well the LPK 25 from AKAI might just have solved my problem.

Fog-free shower mirror streams music too

I can't believe I'm about to say this, but this Sharper Image product actually seems to be somewhat useful and – perhaps more importantly -- priced reasonably.

Samsung Behold II handled with less battery than we’d like
Posted on October 8, 2009 | 1 CommentFiled under: Handsets, Features, Samsung, T-Mobile, GSM, EDGE, HSDPA, UMTS, Android
Yesterday we showed you this bad boy behind a thick, hand-stopping sheet of glass, and today, we're taking you just a little closer to the action. The emphasis has to be on "just a little," unfortunately, because neither T-Mobile nor Samsung were willing to slip a battery in the phone and let us play around with it, a surefire indication that the firmware isn't baked to a golden brown yet -- and when you consider that they're promising the Behold II in time for the holidays, the clock's definitely ticking. Would we pick this over a myTouch 3G? Probably, yeah -- especially with the better cam -- but let's be real, the Fender Limited Edition is another story altogether.

Sharp Japan links cordless phone to a touch panel
Posted on August 21, 2009 | No Comments
Even in cell phone-crazy Japan, the fixed-line phone isn't quite dead yet. And Sharp Japan's JD-7C1CL/CW [JP], announced yesterday, is proof there's still room for mild innovation in that area. The cordless phone is bundled with a 7-inch touch panel that can be used for various functions.
