Posted on May 11, 2010 | No Comments
We were very impressed with the NEX3 and NEX5 digital cameras Sony presented yesterday for the first time. And today, the company in Tokyo announced [press release in English] a hardware prototype of a great-looking interchangeable HD camcorder. Technical details are relatively scarce at this point, but Sony says they will be using the same "Exmor" APS HD CMOS sensor the NEX3 and NEX5 will have.

Ricoh CX3: 10 megapixels, with back-illuminated sensor
Posted on February 3, 2010 | No CommentsI’m just wrapping my head around CMOS and you spring this on me? This Ricoh CX3 is a 10-megapixel shooter with 720p video recording and “Pets” scene mode. Exemode SQ28m: Cute mini designer digital camera (video)
Posted on December 9, 2009 | No Comments
Japanese camera maker Exemode has developed the SQ28m [JP, the site is currently down], a mini digital camera that's quite nice design-wise. The device is sized at just 53×23×19mm, weighs21g, can be used with your key chain and is available in red or blue.
The SQ28m features 64MB internal SDRAM, but there's also a microSD slot that you can feed with 2GB cards. It sports a 1/2.7" 195MP CMOS sensor that lets you shoot JPEGs in 1,280x1,200 and video as Motion JPEG or AVI in 320×240 resolution and at 8fps. You can transfer all material you shot to your computer via USB 1.1.

Posted on August 31, 2009 | No CommentsThe press release for the Canon EOS 7D has leaked. Unfortunately, it's only available as a translation from Chinese, so it's riddled with all sorts of gibberish. Not that that's ever stopped us before!

Sony goes full-frame with the α850 DSLR, will ship this fall
Posted on August 27, 2009 | No Comments
It seems a little unnecessary but (there's a sucker born every second, right?) the 24.6-megapixel full-frame Exmor CMOS sensor equipped α850 is being geared towards “a broader group of consumers,” says Kristen Elder, the Director of Digital Imaging at Sony. Before you raise an eyebrow and ask why Sony has another full-frame DSLR when the α900 is top dog, ask me how much the α850 is going to be. It’s coming in under $2000, which is $700 cheaper than the α900.

Samsung GX-30 DSLR specs supposedly leaked
Posted on June 29, 2009 | No Comments
Now, I can’t attest to the legitimacy of this spec list leaked by PhotoRumors, but let’s take a gander at what the GX-30 is purportedly equipped with. Assuming you understand the relationship that Samsung has with Pentax then one would assume that the GX-30 is simply a clone of the recently announced K-7. But is the GX-30 just that? A clone?
