Sanyo’s new 2K projector boasts industry-high 10,000 lumens brightness
Posted on June 9, 2010 | No CommentsIf you thought the Sanyo 3D projector we've shown you a couple of days ago was impressive, think again: today the company announced [JP] the LP-HF1000L, a projector for "professional use" that not only boasts 2K (2,048×1,080) resolution but also produces 10,000 lumens brightness. According to Sanyo, no other projector in the industry can keep up with that number (via AC 100V, at least).

Panasonic starts taking orders for its 152-inch, 4K plasma 3D TV

And today, the same company announced [press release in English] it will start accepting orders for another batch of three new 3D plasma TVs on July 1. Targeted at "professional users", these TVs are bigger. Much bigger.

And yet another 3D news item from Japan. This time, it's Panasonic, which today announced [JP] two new 3D plasma TVs, the 42-inch TH-P42VT2, and the 46-inch TH-P46VT2. Both VIERAs require active shutter glasses to view images in 3D and both feature full HD resolution.

Sanyo debuts world’s shortest-focus (and 3D-ready) projector

We're about to get yet another 3D-enabled piece of hardware, and this time, it's a projector. Sanyo's PDG-DWL2500J, announced today in Japan (press release in English), is not only "3D ready", but it also boasts the world's shortest projection distance (just 32cm to project images that are 80 inches in size) for projectors weighing less than 9kg.

Panasonic announced [JP] a set of two new VIERA TVs for the Japanese market today, the 37-inch TH-L37R2B and the 32-inch TH-L32R2B. And they somehow managed to squeeze quite a few features and functions into the LCDs, most notably Skype support, a 320 GB HDD and a Blu-ray recorder.

Fujitsu to unveil improved color e-paper screen

Fujitsu Laboratories announced today that they will be unveiling a new version of their color electronic paper display at the company’s Fujitsu Forum exhibition in Tokyo next week. The new screen is a supposed to be a third brighter and has a contrast ratio of 7:1, three times that of the previous model. These improvements are mostly due to the use of a new liquid crystal material with superior reflective characteristics.

It seems Japanese companies are releasing 3D displays on an almost daily basis. Yesterday, we reported about Toshiba's 3D HDTV, and today Panasonic Japan announced [JP] two new 3D plasma TVs for their VIERA line-up, the TH-P65VT2 (65 inches) and the TH-P58VT2 (58 inches).

Sharp announces another batch of AQUOS TVs with built-in Blu-ray recorders

In Japan, Sharp has been offering AQUOS LCDs with integrated Blu-ray players or recorders for quite some time now. And today, the company announced [JP] the AQUOS DX3 series, which consists of another five of those TVs (with built-in Blu-ray recorders) for the Japanese market.

BenQ claims new LCD TV supports 12,000,000:1 contrast

For some strange reason, the contrast race seems to be on. TV's seem to getting higher and high contrast ratio, but LG was claiming a 1,000,000,000:1 contrast ratio, and now BenQ is claiming a 12,000,000:1.

For the Nintendo 3DS? Hitachi develops glasses-free, mobile 3D display

Sony, Panasonic, NEC and now Sharp: All of these Japanese tech powerhouses are playing the 3D game now, but what about Hitachi? The biggest (sales-wise) of them all has been working on a glasses-free 3D projection system and sells a 3D cell phone in Japan (pictured), but Hitachi has been relatively quiet in terms of 3D.
Today, however, Hitachi Displays announced [JP] the development of a new 3.1-inch 3D LCD, which is - you guessed it - specifically designed for mobile devices.
