The story line of SG-1 and Atlantis of course supported the creative (and budget) decision, but SGU is different. This time our cast is exploring exploring the very deepest parts of space and so the aliens should be different. And different they are.

Toyota’s anti-drunk driving gadget elicits comparison to, yes, Nazi Germany
Posted on August 31, 2009 | No CommentsHelp me understand this. Toyota today announced some sort of anti-drunk driving “gadget” (more like a complete system, including a digital camera and a breathalyzer) that prevents a car from being turned on if it detects a certain amount of alcohol in your system. You know, to help reduce the number of drunk driving-related accidents, which in the U.S. caused nearly 12,000 deaths last year. That's one death every 45 minutes.

A 79-year-old man from Utica, NY entered an AT&T store with a hit list of names and a 357 Magnum. He opened fired, hitting one employee, before an off-duty police officer who was shopping at the store pulled his own gun and shot the attacker dead.
The shooter, Abraham Dicken, had held a grudge against the store's employees for months, even threatening them with a gun once before. His hit-list contained the names of six employees.
