Android 2.2 Froyo source code available today
Posted on June 23, 2010 | No CommentsIt's still not hitting the bulk of Nexus Ones as far as we can tell, but for what it's worth, Google has unleashed the source code for Android 2.2 today, which is a solid sign that the code's been bulletproofed to the Open Handset Alliance's satisfaction and is ready for deployment across a number of phones from different manufacturers and carriers. It's still ultimately up to a bunch of gatekeepers in suits to decide when various models will get the upgrade, but this is basically zero day -- so let the countdown begin.Android 2.2 Froyo source code available today originally appeared on Engadget on Wed, 23 Jun 2010 14:39:00 EST. iPhone 4 pre-order shipping estimates bumped back yet again
Posted on June 16, 2010 | No CommentsI’ll go ahead and say it: if you want an iPhone 4 and didn’t pre-order yesterday, you’re going to have a hell of a time getting one on launch day. In fact, you might have a tough time getting one any time near launch day. As the pre-orders piled up last night and the first batch [...] -
Motorola wants a 2GHz Android by year’s end, so do we
Posted on June 10, 2010 | No CommentsLooks like we didn't get the full dish from Sanjay Jha's bout of loquaciousness this morning. It turns out Moto's chief of handsets has also expressed his company's intention to bring the world its first 2GHz smartphone and to do so on an aggressively accelerated roadmap. By the end of the year, Sanjay? Yes please. Another Moto exec is cited as saying NVIDIA Tegra will be providing the graphics prowess, Flash 10.1 will be fully supported, and a gyroscope will accompany HD video recording and output on the dreamy spec sheet. We wouldn't invest all of our trust in the conveniently anonymous exec's promised specs, but that 2GHz number comes straight from the top -- let the countdown begin.Motorola wants a 2GHz Android by year's end, so do we originally appeared on Engadget on Thu, 10 Jun 2010 15:32:00 EST. One more time, or the next installment in the Hero upgrade saga
Posted on May 12, 2010 | No Comments
Ok. I'm very nearly at the point where I don't want to keep posting on this, but I'm eternally optimistic, so here goes:
An internal Best Buy Document has leaked all over Android Central's best shirt, claiming that the Android 2.1 upgrade date for the eternally neglected Sprint Hero will be the 21st of May.

PUMA to announce a sports-centric, solar powered cell phone next week
Posted on February 10, 2010 | No CommentsWe’ve known since around October of last year that PUMA was working on a branded phone with Sagem (the same folks who make the Porsche-branded phones) – but outside of the fact that it was in the works, there wasn’t much else known about it. PUMA just put up a teaser site for the phone, but [...] -

TeliaSonera launches world’s first LTE network, awaits phones eagerly
Posted on December 14, 2009 | No CommentsTeliaSonera has today flicked on the green light for its LTE networks in Stockholm and Oslo, officially starting the countdown for LTE-enabled phones. For the moment, keen mobile webstronauts will only be able to hook up their laptop or other USB-equipped device via the Samsung-provided 4G modem, but 100Mbps download speeds on the world's first commercial LTE network are still nothing to sniff at. This rollout is in fact slightly ahead of schedule, and the other major cities in Sweden and Norway are likely to soon get treated similarly well, while TeliaSonera makes a point to mention it has a license to do similar damage to Finland's 3G operators. The US might not be too far behind, either, given that the modem in use in Scandinavia recently cleared the FCC. Now if only we had phones that could ride these massive waves we'd be all set.TeliaSonera launches world's first LTE network, awaits phones eagerly originally appeared on Engadget on Mon, 14 Dec 2009 07:14:00 EST. Now the countdown begins for a possible U2 Rock Band
Posted on October 7, 2009 | No CommentsAt this rate, you and your garage band could be starring in the next Rock Band-like game! (That's actually not a bad idea. Some sort of service wherein you upload your band's songs, and a little while later out pops a file that works in Rock Band and Guitar Hero.) Famous band U2 recently told USA Today that, sure, it would love to be in a video game of its own one day. It's probably too late now, seeing as though, years from now, The Beatles: Rock Band will be viewed as the apex of these music games.

T-Mobile Moto CLIQ to cost $200 on a two-year contract
Posted on September 29, 2009 | No Comments
Even after the pre-sale countdown for the Moto CLIQ began this morning, we were left with two burning questions: How much would it cost, and when would we get'em? Fortunately, T-Mobile didn't leave us hanging for too long.

Pre-pre-sale: The Moto CLIQ pre-sale countdown begins
Posted on September 29, 2009 | No CommentsBoom! Looks like Moto CLIQ pamphlet that leaked out a few days ago was spot on. The pamphlet claimed that pre-orders for Motorola’s first ‘Droid handset would begin on Oct. 19th – and sure enough, T-mobile just started the official countdown. There isn’t much in terms of new information, but hey – at least now we [...] -
Rumor: Is this the Jabra Stone?
Posted on September 23, 2009 | No CommentsWell, that didn’t last long. Jabra barely started their mysterious campaign to hype up the Jabra Stone this morning, and it looks like the beans have already been spilled. Someone just passed the picture above onto Giz, claiming that it was none other than the Stone itself. It doesn’t look anything like the silhouette Jabra has [...]
