    Steam for Mac is 100 percent official. Valve just released a statement saying it plans to launch it this April. The first games available will be Left 4 Dead 2, Team Fortress 2, Half-Life (and expansions), Counter Strike, and Portal. Portal 2 will be the first game released for Mac and PC simultaneously. Pretty big news, yes.

    Another ban hammer has fallen on Germany. Now it looks like the country, in its various Länder, has passed a law banning the public display, at LAN parties and the like, of the game Counter-Strike, effecting the closure of a tournament there.

    All violent video games poised for ban in Germany

    Bad news for German gamers. (As I understand it, we're huge in Baden-Baden.) A bill is about to be introduced to parliament, after having been rubber-stamped by all sixteen of the country's interior ministers, that would ban the sale of all violent video games. What's a violent video game? Any game “where the main part is to realistically play the killing of people or other cruel or unhuman acts of violence against humans or manlike characters.” Yikes.
