Leaked Windows Phone 7 ROM filename suggests an HTC Mondrian?
Posted on May 15, 2010 | No CommentsThe lads and lassies at XDA-Developers made an intriguing discovery this week: a leaked 100MB file that might be the first Windows Phone 7 ROM actually destined for a device. What's more, it could possibly reveal details about a phone we barely knew existed -- the filename references an "HTC Mondrian." At best, the contents might reveal wonders beyond imagination, including full specs, bundled apps, even the tools needed to properly shoehorn WP7 onto your existing HTC handset. At worst, the community might never open the blasted file, or discover it's all a clever hoax. There's really no indication either way, so we prefer to dream. If you think you've got what it takes, try cracking the ROM yourself at our source link.Leaked Windows Phone 7 ROM filename suggests an HTC Mondrian? originally appeared on Engadget on Sat, 15 May 2010 14:08:00 EST. Touchscreen BlackBerry Bold-esque handset prototype caught on camera, possibly scrapped
Posted on January 21, 2010 | No Comments
Ever since RIM got their act together with the BlackBerry Storm 2, we've been pretty excited about their new-found interest in touchscreens. When word got out not too long ago that RIM was cracking away on a half-touchscreen/half-keyboard hybrid handset (think BlackBerry Bold, with a touchscreen), we started getting all hot around the collar. Word on the street (the cell phone rumor street. It's a tough place.) indicated the handset's nickname was "Dakota".
Aaaaaand here it is..

Samsung to follow up the ultra cheap Corby with the even cheaper Corby Pop
Posted on December 18, 2009 | No CommentsSamsung already managed to get the Samsung Corby down to a surprisingly dirt-cheap price tag, packing in a 2.8" touchscreen, 2 MP camera, and FM radio for less than $200 bucks -- unlocked, and without contract. It seems that wasn't enough, however - according to the latest whispers from the rumor mill, they're aiming even lower. According to Unwired View, Samsung's cracking away at a new uber-cheap handset called the Corby Pop. There aren't any pictures of the Corby Pop yet - in its place, please accept this picture of a ham sandwich.

HTC Desire gets FCC and Wi-Fi Alliance approval – Verizon bound?
Posted on September 28, 2009 | No CommentsUh oh! Looks like the Motorola Sholes isn’t the only Android-totin’ kid hanging around on Verizon’s block. According to BGR, Verizon’s cracking away at an HTC-made Android handset called Desire, which they plan to launch shortly after the standard approvals and regulations are dotted and crossed. And what do you know? Both the FCC and [...] -
It shouldn’t be this difficult to upgrade a hard drive
Posted on September 14, 2009 | No CommentsYou know what's a little more difficult than I first imagined? Upgrading the hard drive in my late 2006 iMac. I had initially wanted to upgrade the hard drive so I could finally dual boot between Mac OS X and Windows 7, since the old drive, a 250GB model, was pretty much filled to capacity. (Trying to run Mac OS X with only ~5GB of free space isn't ideal.) And even though the iMac user manual clearly states that the only user-replacabable parts are the RAM, I figured, “Bah! I think I can handle a simple hard drive replacement.” I did, but not before wishing I had never so much had broken out a screwdriver.

Samsung confirms it’s working on a Tegra phone
Posted on July 24, 2009 | No CommentsWe’ve gotta admit it: we’re pretty dang excited about Nvidia’s Tegra chipset. 720p video pumped out of our handsets? Yes please. Gorgeous graphics on the go? Hardware accelerated Flash? Android support? Yes, yes, and yes. All of this, and the battery requirements are better than what’s in most phones? Oh, hells yes. If Nvidia manages [...] -
The official Kindle 2 case is cracking the Kindle 2, $5 million lawsuit filed
Posted on July 15, 2009 | No CommentsIt seems that the Kindle 2 has an issue when used with the official protective case: it cracks. Obviously everyone that spent $30 on the case that’s suppose to protect the Kindle from such damage isn’t too happy right now. Amazon previously stated that owners were kind of out of luck and had to spend [...]
