Ringo Starr is not good at Rock Band. And?
Posted on January 15, 2010 | No CommentsFamous rock star Ringo Star was on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon last night, and he admitted that he's "crap" at Rock Band. This is news only in the loosest sense of the term because the headline should read, "Old man not good at video games."

Posted on January 10, 2010 | No CommentsAnother year, another CES. The show this year wasn’t that different then previous years with some new stuff, a lot of old crap, and nerds all over Vegas. Hopefully you followed us around the show floor via our massively-successful Livestream feed. If not, stay tuned. We’re going to cut a lot of the fluff and repost [...] -
Cork USB stick and light bulb USB stick
Posted on January 7, 2010 | No Comments
I don't know what it is about Japan and USB, but Nippon just keeps on churning out USB-powered crap gadgets. Thanko is one of the Tokyo-based companies responsible for this phenomenon, the other is Greenhouse. And Greenhouse announced not one but two silly USB gadgets, memory sticks to be more exact in the last 48 hours: One is shaped like a cork [JP], the other like a mini light bulb [JP].

You know the Vertu phones, right? The over-priced Nokias sold in watch stores and casinos? Well, soon there will be over-priced accessories sold along side them in a pen, Bluetooth headset, and microSD card reader. How fun. Your next date will be so impressed.

Tokyo's best gadget maker Thanko seems to be on a roll this winter. They already released a couple of USB-powered slippers, gloves and similar crap gadgets. Their newest offering is the Nekotan, a pair of USB-powered black cat paw gloves [JP]. No, I don't get it either.

Next up on Boxee: Sony Picture’s Crackle
Posted on December 2, 2009 | No Comments
Boxee is only days away from announcing the details about its upcoming hardware venture, and the good news keeps rolling. Crackle, which is a site I've never heard of but is apparently a division of Sony Pictures Entertainment, is the latest video site to be available on Boxee. Actually, this is really good news for Boxee users. Crackle has some great shows.

USB shoe dryer, USB eyelash curler, USB toothbrush sanitizer, USB blanket (Thanko)
Posted on November 16, 2009 | No Comments
Tokyo-based Thanko has brought us many USB-powered crap gadgets in the past. But in the last few days, the company has rolled out not one but four of those gadgets in rapid succession: A USB shoe dryer, USB eyelash curler, USB toothbrush sanitizer case, and a USB blanket (all links in Japanese). And you can get all of this stuff even if you live outside Japan.

Thanko’s USB powered, Dinosaur foot-shaped slipper keeps your feet warm
Posted on November 12, 2009 | No Comments
OK, now the USB gadget craze gets really silly. Tokyo-based crap USB accessory maker Thanko has been selling USB-powered slippers and gloves that are supposed to keep you warm in the past, but the new model, Dinosaur foot-shaped slipper(s) [JP] (of all things), is probably the silliest.

Verizon already prepping DROID and DROID Eris firmware updates?
Posted on November 10, 2009 | No CommentsFiled under: Software, HTC, Motorola, Verizon Wireless, Android
The last thing you want to hear about a few short days after a product's launch is a litany of issues plaguing devices in the field, but that's not quite what's going on here -- instead, this looks to be an extension of Verizon's well-known policy of testing the crap out of devices until manufacturers are practically crying uncle. The carrier has already generated long internal lists of issues on both the DROID and DROID Eris, it seems, with the leaked documents revealing some five pages for the Motorola product and seven -- yes, seven -- for the HTC one; the good news is that they're all slated to be fixed in one of two firmware updates slated for December and January windows. Again, knowing Verizon, these firmware updates could very well get stuck in the testing lab for another six years, but we'll keep our hopes skyward.

Verizon broadband data goes prepaid
Posted on November 5, 2009 | No CommentsFiled under: Peripherals, Verizon Wireless
Heavy users are still going to need the 5GB monthly postpaid option (and really, let's be honest, a lot of us need well more than 5GB), but the occasional "crap, I really have to grab that spreadsheet off the intranet" moment might be well-served by Verizon's new prepaid data option announced today. "Occasional" really is the key word here, because it's not cheap -- $15 per day for 75MB, $30 per week for 250MB, or $50 per month for 500MB -- but hey, we guess we've gotta get Big Red used to the idea of offering a la carte data for a while before it becomes affordable to the masses. In the meantime, it'll be offered bundled with a USB760 modem (pictured) in Verizon and Best Buy locations starting on November 16.Verizon broadband data goes prepaid originally appeared on Engadget Mobile on Thu, 05 Nov 2009 09:45:00 EST. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Launch Trailer (it’s epic)
Posted on November 5, 2009 | No CommentsPut all the Modern Warfare 2 controversy crap behind of you for just a minute and a half. Forget about the lack of PC dedicated server support and that you *might* kill civilians in the game. Just watch the official launch trailer and tell me you aren’t stoked about this game. Seriously. -
Woot Buzz for iPhone ensures you don’t miss the next Bag Of Crap
Posted on November 2, 2009 | No CommentsIt’s probably a bit less apparent on this side of the fence than it is over at CrunchGear, but we loves us some Woot around these parts. Are you attending a Windows 7 Launch Party?
Posted on October 22, 2009 | No CommentsThe night is almost here. I hope my Windows 7 Launch Party guests aren't expecting much. I mean, they're welcome to go hang out on my Windows 7 computer and putz around on it. I don't care, but I'm going to be drinking some refreshing High Life far away from that wretched device. I only have a few people coming to my launch party and they will all be leaving with a gift bag filled with Windows 7 crap courtesy of Microsoft and random advertisers. But how about you? Are you attending or hosting one of these infamous events tonight or in the coming days?

Apple to release a crap-ton of new products today?
Posted on October 20, 2009 | No Comments
Today could be a big Apple day. John Gruber and Dan Lyons both think that we might just see a plethora of new Apple products today. Exciting, I know. These new models would include new iMacs, plastic Macbooks, Mac Minis, 2nd generation Mighty Mouse that isn't called a Mighty Mouse, and some sort of multitouch desktop gadget thingy. Yeah, all that is suppose to come out today even though Apple doesnt' have a press conference on the books and Steve Jobs knows I don't really want to work that hard today. Yeah, we talk.
