Quick look at the Creative WoW headset
Posted on February 18, 2010 | No Comments
We have a few WoW players on staff here and they've been pretty excited about this headset. That said, I got a chance to take a look at them and I'm quite pleased. The styling is great and the light-up logos on the sides add a fun way to identify yourself in a crowded LAN party. The wireless version is $159 and the wired is $119 and they should be available in March.

Zii Trinity’s HD playback gets a quick and promising look
Posted on December 6, 2009 | No CommentsIt's over far too quickly, but in the video after the break, what you get to see is how well the Zii Trinity mobile prototype handles outputting HD video -- in this case, a very smooth playback of a snippet from Wall-E. Can we express more excitement for Creative's little platform that could? Probably, but we're already reaching pretty high. Now if only we could get some hands-on time of our own...Zii Trinity's HD playback gets a quick and promising look originally appeared on Engadget on Sun, 06 Dec 2009 02:27:00 EST. Creative to show off ‘Zii Android mobile phone’ next month at Chinese summit
Posted on November 15, 2009 | No CommentsFiled under: Handsets, Software, Android
We've been saying all along that we'd love nothing more than to see someone throw a 3G chip into Creative's Zii Egg and sell it as a pretty strong smartphone, but so far we've been hit with little to no indication of interested parties making that happen. So when we spot phrases like "Zii Optimized Android Phone platform" and "the line-up of devices on display includes a Mobile Phone platform" on an informational site for the ZiiLABS Showcase happening early December in China, our interested are definitely piqued. The event is geared towards companies who'd like to use the Plaszma platform for their products, and with any luck, some debonair decision-maker will give Zii phone a chance.

How to photograph a 300 ft tall tree without getting a splinter
Posted on September 30, 2009 | No Comments
National Geographic magazine is running an article about the redwood forest this month, and part of that article included a very special vertical panoramic shot of a 300 foot tall tree. Shooting in the redwoods is particularly difficult because you lose the sense of scale. If there's not something like a house or a bus next to the tree, you really can't show how massive the trees really are.
Photographer Nick Nichols traveled out into the forest to do just that: capture a photo of a tree that's over 300 feet tall, while keeping a sense of scale. Standard photographic techniques just wouldn't cut it, so Nick had to get creative.

Look, Batman, there’s a World of Warcraft headset from Creative coming right at us!
Posted on August 18, 2009 | No CommentsThis could be the most important week in the history of Creation. Blizzcon starts on Friday—once again Blizzard reminded me in an e-mail that I can purchase the Web stream or DirecTV pay-per-view for $40—and we're sure to be hanging on the company's every word re: World of Warcraft: Cataclysm. Today's hot news is that Creative will release a World of Warcraft-branded headset in November. Look for it around $100-$150.
