National Photo Month contest winners!
Posted on May 17, 2010 | No Comments
Next time I run a contest on CrunchGear, I am definitely not going to commit to selecting a random winner. The submissions for our National Photo Month contest were great! They were clever, artistic, and truly enjoyable. You guys outdid yourselves, and I really wish I could reward everyone who entered with a prize. But alas, I committed to selecting three random winners. Click on through to see the winners, along with a few honorable mentions.

Yes~! There will be Independence Day sequels, Will Smith will be all over them
Posted on March 31, 2010 | No CommentsNice, another sci-fi movie story. 'tis a grand day, indeed. The story is a two-parter: one, there will be an Independence Day 2 and Independence Day 3. That's insane enough. Two: Will Smith will be in both. Loving the creativity coming out of Hollywood these days.

Hollywood made $10 billion in 2009. In better news, only 5 billion years till the sun runs out of fuel!
Posted on December 28, 2009 | No CommentsOn the face of it, today's story that 2009 was Hollywood's best ever (so thanks for rewarding creativity, America), raking in some $10 billion, should be good news for a few people. It should be good news for the movie studios, which will now invest that money in yachts, caviar, human growth hormone, and sequels to today's sequels. It should be good news for theatre owners, who were concerned that people would stop going to the movies as a result of the recession. Not so! (As if they didn't have a precedent to cite...) It should be good news, in a weird way, to people who pirate movies and bleat that their doing so isn't harming the industry one bit.

Win $10,000 of audio related things from Sennheiser
Posted on November 18, 2009 | No Comments
Hey everybody! Let's play the "What would you do if you had a million dollars?" game! Unfortunately, due to recent changes in corporation policy and budget cuts, you'll only have 10,000 USD to play with. And it will have to go towards something music / audio related. Wait, that's still totally awesome. But don't tell me what you would do with the cash. Go and tell the guys over at Sennheiser. Their Sound Tour Hookup Challenge can give you and five friends the chance to spend ten thousand bucks on whatever crazy audio scheme you can think of.

Spooky sounds from your Telecaster
Posted on October 28, 2009 | No Comments
Do not adjust your computer because Bill Ruppert has put together a nice set of sound effects using only EHX pedals and some creativity. I love how he makes a clock sound with just the pick-up switch and then adds in some bells for spooky effect.

Sasquatch Lives!
Posted on June 10, 2009 | No Comments
Remember those holograms we saw during the presidential election? It was just like the hologram of Princess Leia that R2D2 shows to old Ben Kenobi, except suckier. I bet you wished, like I did, that you could make your own cool holograms, but with Sasquatch, right? Your dreams have been answered, thanks to LivingSasquatch.com!

It's a well known fact of life that creativity flows better when the sun is down. The best essays are written the night before class, the best coding is done at 2 AM, and the best music is written when everyone else would rather sleep. VOX's series of headphone amps allow you to rock out without your neighbors calling the police.
