Don’t shop drunk: Verizon’s $350 ETF is now live
Posted on November 15, 2009 | No CommentsFiled under: Verizon Wireless
Just a word of caution to anyone out there with an itchy credit card finger: signing up for a contract with Verizon just became a considerably more binding affair thanks to a big boost of its contract early termination fee from $175 to $350. Rumored for a few days now, the change became official as of yesterday, which means that anyone who bought an "advanced device" prior to the 14th is in the clear. The advanced device list can be found on Verizon's site, and as you might expect, it's a little broad and ridiculous -- winners like the Versa, Exilim, and Glyde are on there, so they're obviously not just referring to smartphones. They throw you a bone by reducing the ETF by a stout $10 for every month of the contract you successfully hurdle, but that still leaves you with a $120 ETF 23 months into a 24-month deal... so yeah, just be careful out there and don't do anything rash, alright?Don't shop drunk: Verizon's $350 ETF is now live originally appeared on Engadget Mobile on Sun, 15 Nov 2009 14:44:00 EST. Video Review: Case-Mate Barely There
Posted on September 25, 2009 | No Comments
It's $29.99, it's thin, and it can hold two credit cards. It's the Case-Mate Barely There ID case. I've always wanted to stop carrying a wallet and I'm not sure this is quite the solution I'm looking for but it may work for those who just need one credit card and driver's license at all times.
If only they added a big old money clip in there or maybe a special wallet just for special stuff? Sadly, you'll never be able to be as bad ass as this with an iPhone in a plastic case. Two videos after the jump.

The 1st gen iPod is still available from the Apple Store
Posted on August 20, 2009 | No Comments
Someone out there is liable to actually spend $129 on this original iPod. I don't even know if it's available to buy even though there is an Add to Cart button. But more power to you if you have extra cash laying around to spend on a 5GB MP3 player. Truth be told though, this first generation was a very satisfying device. The scroll wheel was actually mechanical and you had to physically move it. Actually, I kind of wanna buy this.

Brando tests the limits of consumer behavior with folding credit card light bulb
Posted on August 4, 2009 | No Comments
I'd love to be a fly on the wall during one of Brando's product development sessions. This product, for instance, is a folding credit card-sized "light bulb" that appears to be nothing more than a little LED shining upward against some sort of translucent plastic.
