Wii Controller Demo gets active, Android and Wiimote handle Donkey Kong on video
Posted on May 9, 2010 | No CommentsWe knew the Wii Controller Demo app (now known as "Wii Controller IME") was close to being able to interact with Android in a meaningful way, but we certainly didn't expect to see Average Joes playing Donkey Kong on their Nexus One devices this soon. Not that we're kvetching or anything -- and in fact, we'd argue that this landed at a perfect time for you hard-workin' Android owners to give this all a spin over the weekend. Jump on past the break for a look at the setup procedure as well as bona fide proof that a Wiimote and Android can indeed work together for the greater good. Mind those coconuts, though.

eBoy’s FixPix iPhone game is basically the greatest thing ever made
Posted on May 6, 2010 | No CommentsOkay, so this isn't out yet, but it's hard to deny that the eBoy-designed Delicious Toys-developed game FixPix is probably the best idea anyone has ever had since the wheel or sliced bread. Maybe that's a little hyperbolic, but as you know, we are huge fans of eBoy and their mind-boggling pixel art. Now the design collective's cityscapes and fantastical scenes have been turned into an iPhone app where you can piece the 3D milieus back together by tilting your phone this way and that. As we said, the title isn't available, but there's an awesome demo site where you can play around with the concept, and it's likely FixPix could see Apple approval any day now. We can barely contain ourselves. Check out a video of the game in action after the break.Continue reading eBoy's FixPix iPhone game is basically the greatest thing ever made

Video: Robovie-R Ver. 3 to start supporting the elderly in November
Posted on May 5, 2010 | No Comments
The Robovie-R Ver.3, an advanced service humanoid jointly made by major Japanese robot maker Vstone and Japan’s Advanced Telecommunications Research Institute (ATR), has a lot going for it. The 120cm robot can understand and answer questions, he can serve as a guide for humans (he "walks" at about 2.5km/h), he's cute, and he's touch sensitive (through a total of eleven touch sensors).

Monami, the hard drive concept with a leather top hat (kinda)
Posted on May 4, 2010 | No CommentsYeah... How much thought do you put into your hard drive purchase? Like, zero seconds? I mean, you check out the specs—capacity, cache, speed, etc.—and then off you go. Do you care what it looks like? I certainly don't, but then I'm probably not the "demo" for this deal. Then again, it's not even real, so I don't even know what's going on anymore.

Adobe announces Creative Suite 5, wallets flinch
Posted on April 12, 2010 | No Comments
Adobe made it official today, the CS5 package is now available for pre-order. You can also order just the bits and pieces you want, if you don't want to drop $1,899 for the full monty. Photoshop CS5 is looking particularly tasty, with the new content-aware fill at the top of my list of stuff I want to check out. Take a look at the demo video after the jump.

The WePad gets a price and launch date (update: Now with a demo of the interface!)
Posted on April 12, 2010 | No Comments
The WePad made headlines a few weeks back when the tablet launched out of seemingly nowhere. It's really the anti-iPad with multitasking, Flash, SD card slot, USB, along with the Android Marketplace, but while maintaining Apple's sleek design. But the pricing and availability wasn't mentioned with the hardware specs. The company just went public with those deets' along with announcing Intel and Adobe as official WePad partners.

Create your own view of the world with the WindowWall
Posted on March 25, 2010 | No Comments
I love the show Leverage. Partly because it's filmed in my home town of Portland Oregon, and partly because of the high tech gadgets that they use. For example, the briefing sequences use a wall of LCD TVs. The each TV can show an individual shot, or can be combined into one massive display, which just looks like fun to me. Well, you can buy your own, better version, with the WindowWall.

Robot + iPod touch = robovie mR2 (video)
Posted on March 22, 2010 | No Comments
Japan’s Advanced Telecommunications Research Institute (ATR) has unveiled robovie mR2 [JP], a cute desk robot that stands just 30cm tall and weighs 2kg. The cool thing is that users can place an iPod touch in his chest to control the robot (wirelessly via Wifi or by touching the screen).

This Windows Phone 7 tablet concept toys with our hopes and dreams
Posted on March 18, 2010 | No Comments
Windows Phone 7 has a gorgeous interface. Everyone can agree with that. But this concept shows that it even transfers to a 8-inch slate just fine. Plus it throws in a a built-in stand, two analog joysticks and a keyboard for good measure. We like. Click through for a quick demo video.
