We've reviewed a number of digital picture frames here at CrunchGear, and they each strive to fit a slightly different niche. Isabella's new Vizit Frame brings some interesting new features to this crowded space. It sports a gorgeous 10.4" touchscreen, 3G wireless connectivity, and the ability to send pictures from the frame to someone's email address. It's probably the best digital picture frame I've reviewed yet, but still has a couple rough spots.

Velocity Micro unveils Android 2.1 Cruz Tablet and Cruz Reader

Velocity Micro, who has tried to enter the market before with their M5 MID, yesterday unveiled two new tablet devices—the Cruz Tablet and Cruz Reader. Both models use a 7-inch touchscreen and support Flash 10.1, but the most attractive aspect is the affordability: the Cruz Tablet is expected to cost $299.99 while the Cruz Reader will be $199.99.

Kenwood Japan has announced [JP] the AS-iP70 today, a swiss army knife of sorts for various media. The device serves as a dock for your iPhone or iPod but can also be used as an AM/FM radio, music player, alarm clock, and a digital picture frame - thanks to its 7-inch LCD screen.

Sharp Japan’s cordless phone system features integrated photo frame

Back in August 2009, we covered a cordless phone offered by Sharp Japan that could be connected to a portable 7-inch touch panel via infrared. That panel could be used as a digital picture frame, for example. And yesterday, the same company announced [JP] the JD-4C1CW, which again links a cordless phone to a touch screen. This time, the display is part of the phone.

AV Bank Dodeka: Thanko’s pretty decent looking 7-inch media player
Posted on December 16, 2009 | No CommentsTokyo-based crap USB gadget vendor Thanko does roll out devices from time to time that are not that crappy. And their so-called AV Bank Dodeka [JP], a media player that boasts a 7-inch screen (iPhone: 3.5 inches), seems to be one of those. It's a major upgrade to the AV Bank Thanko started selling just last month. The Dodeka's LTPS screen has a 800×480 resolution and can double as a digital picture frame. It features 8GB of internal memory but also supports microSD/SDHC cards (up to 16GB). Videos can be viewed in AVI/MPEG/FLV/MP4/MOV/PMP/DAT/VOB/RM/ or RMVB format. The player also plays MP3s and displays JPEG/GIF/ and BMP photo files.

Review: eMotion Social-Connect Digital Photo Frame plus a giveaway

I purchased a number of frames from multiple manufacturers for multiple members of my family with the expectation that I would, for time immemorial, be able to email said frames images, thus allowing family members the opportunity to see new photos without having to drag them over from the computer. Alas and alack each one of these frames (Damn you, SmartParts!) has failed and their attendant services have gone out of business. I'm an optimistic fellow, however, and they say digital picture frame usage after being burned by picture frames in the past is a triumph of hope over experience. Well fool me again, picture frames, because I'm going to talk about the eMotion Social-Connect Digital Photo Frame with LifeGoRound.

Hikari iFrame: Japan gets Android-powered, inexpensive tablet PC

NTT, Japan's biggest telecommunications company (its subsidiary NTT East, to be more exact) has unveiled the Hikari iFrame [JP] yesterday, an Android-powered tablet PC that's supposed to be extra-easy to use and doubles as a digital picture frame. NTT East has already set up a dedicated product web site [JP] for the iFrame, marketing it as a lifestyle product of sorts.
