The Koike Laboratory from the University of Electro Communications in Tokyo was responsible for one of the most spectacular booths at the Digital Contents Expo that ended in Tokyo yesterday. They developed an "augmented tabletop video game with pinching gesture recognition". The device is basically a touch screen running an action game.

NTT wants future cell phones to double as flutes, blood test units and digital papers (video)

These are some very early prototypes Japan's No. 1 telecommunications company NTT recently showcased during the JPCA Show 2009 in Tokyo, but they are pretty cool to look at and may show a glimpse of the near future. The basic idea is to one day be able to offer cell phones featuring an interface for attachable and replaceable hardware add-ons.

Posted on May 28, 2009 | No CommentsAs with Panasonic's Lumix DMC-GH1, a few lucky folks who have managed to spend a few moments with Pentax's new 14.6 megapixel K-7 have stopped to host up the results for us to drool over. Early stills are rather impressive, with images being sharp, crisp and generally delightful to stare at. As for video, it's tough to judge the real quality based on a YouTube rendition, but feel free to glean what you can just after the break. So, if you weren't sold already, are you now?
