It’s real: iPad Arcade…well at least its not fake
Posted on June 9, 2010 | No Comments
When Think Geek posted this image on April Fools Day, it was apparent that it wasn’t real. While a disappointment to some gamers, it also became an inspiration for one Hideyoshi Moriya.

Photofast to bring camera to iPad, unless Apple beats them to it
Posted on June 7, 2010 | No Comments
Photofast, a company known for producing flash memory products, has entered the realm of Apple accessories, most notably iPad accessories. The main disappointment we always had with the iPad was the lack of a camera. However, to see a Microsoft camera used as the capturing device, is well, a bit odd.

How to watch Hulu on Android 2.2
Posted on May 24, 2010 | No Comments
So you've just updated your shiny Nexus One to Android 2.2 (aka Froyo) complete with flash support, and you're jonesing to watch your favorite episode of Glee while on your way to work on this dreary Monday morning.
If you were a true Gleek, you'd have already fired up the browser, navigated over to Hulu, and found nothing but disappointment. You've been burned by licensing deals yet again. Sad face.
So whaddaya do? Well, you lucky dawg, there is a way. Follow me, I will show you how.

Sony burns Air Force by killing Linux on the PS3
Posted on May 14, 2010 | No Comments
Remember that 2,300 unit PS3 order that the Air Force put together to build a supercomputing cluster? Well, file this one under "unintended consequences" because when Sony killed the "other OS" option on the PS3 they definitely made things difficult.

One more time, or the next installment in the Hero upgrade saga
Posted on May 12, 2010 | No Comments
Ok. I'm very nearly at the point where I don't want to keep posting on this, but I'm eternally optimistic, so here goes:
An internal Best Buy Document has leaked all over Android Central's best shirt, claiming that the Android 2.1 upgrade date for the eternally neglected Sprint Hero will be the 21st of May.

Current T-Mobile customers having hard time upgrading to HTC HD2 (updated with statement)
Posted on May 7, 2010 | No Comments
First, the good news: T-Mobile's HD2 is in stock online and apparently at many corporate-owned retail locations. Now, the bad: the carrier seems to be putting these things on lockdown right now, only offering them to new customers signing up for a fresh contract. This is a tactic T-Mobile has applied in the past, so we're not terribly surprised to see them do it here, too -- but it's still a disappointment, especially considering that the phone has been out for a few weeks now. Just goes to show you that a net add is worth considerably more than a loyal customer is (particularly one who's still under contract), but in the meantime, might we recommend the iHTC HD2?
Update: We've received an official statement from T-Mobile on the matter, and it sounds like they're "giving priority to existing customers" with new inventory coming in. Sweet! Here's the full verbiage:"T-Mobile understands the inventory challenges for the HTC HD2 and continues to work diligently in order to supply our customers with this highly popular product. As we receive additional inventory of the HTC HD2, we are giving priority to our existing customers. However, the demand for the device is still exceeding our supply.
Depending on the location, some T-Mobile retail stores may still have some HTC HD2 inventory available. We suggest that interested customers contact their local T-Mobile store via phone before visiting to see if they have the HTC HD2 available. If they do not have the HTC HD2 available, some stores are taking names and contact information, and will be able to notify customers once that location has product available."Current T-Mobile customers having hard time upgrading to HTC HD2 (updated with statement) originally appeared on Engadget on Fri, 07 May 2010 14:28:00 EST. Sprint Hero NOT Getting Android 2.1 on May 7th
Posted on May 6, 2010 | No Comments
Although I'm sure you're used to the disappointment by now, it pains me to tell you this: the Sprint Hero won't be getting its much-hoped-for update to Android 2.1 this Friday.
A Sprint Community Administrator has closed the thread where the original rumour surfaced, stating:
"Closing this thread because I don’t want folks to think that 2.1 is coming out on the 7th."
So, there you go. Pick your heart off of the floor, and go back to your shattered Android dreams (of electric sheep). -
Android 2.1 at Fault for Nexus One Screen Issues? Droid Owners Beware!
Posted on April 13, 2010 | No Comments
No doubt by now you've heard that the screen on Google's Nexus One is apparently worse than the screen on Motorola's Droid.
The story goes that images on the Nexus One aint be poppin' like they do on the Droid, and a study by DisplayMate apparently confirmed this.
But now that Droids have been updated to Android 2.1, users have begun to complain that images displayed on their Droids look about as good as they did in the Commander Keen days.
So, what's the story?

Nintendo 3DS: Look who just innovated itself out of a paper bag!
Posted on March 23, 2010 | No CommentsThe beauty of the Internet is that it demands instant analysis of every single development to come out of Peoria. The Nintendo 3DS—out of Kyoto, which is not Peoria, I'm afraid—was announced overnight, time zone permitting. It will debut at E3 in June, and it will forever change the way you and I... do something. Something video game-related, methinks.

How TiVo missed the mark with the new Premiere
Posted on March 3, 2010 | No CommentsExcuse me while I let off a little steam. I was a tad hasty in my proclamation yesterday that the TiVo Premiere changes everything. It doesn’t. In fact, it doesn’t change anything. It’s a big pile of disappointment and missed opportunity. TiVo doesn’t release hardware that often so when it does, it better be good. Tivos have a ridiculously [...] -
BioShock 2: Great, good, or sorta meh?
Posted on February 9, 2010 | No CommentsSo, BioShock 2. Presumably you've heard of it. It comes out today, and I really can't figure out how I'm supposed to feel. I've read plenty of reviews—Rock, Paper, Shotgun's is my favorite—and they're sorta all over the place. We weren't cool enough to get a review copy, but that's not a big deal; Steam to the rescue.

Motorola Droid getting 2.0.1 now, Verizon posts details
Posted on December 7, 2009 | No Comments
digg_url ='http://digg.com/gadgets/Motorola_Droid_getting_2_0_1_now_Verizon_posts_details'; The "coming weeks" timeframe that Verizon had promised for 2.0.1 to start pushing to Droids has been mercifully condensed down to just a few days, because a number of folks are starting to report that they're receiving the update on their retail units today -- and we've been able to confirm with the company that it's going down. That's great news for a Monday, we'd say, and if you haven't gotten the update just yet, Big Red has now posted update instructions and details on the Droid's support site that should be enough to tide you over for a few minutes. In brief, this looks like bug-fix nirvana with improved stability and battery life, better camera and call quality, faster visual voicemail, and a host of other goodies -- anyone hoping for new features is probably primed for disappointment, but we'll take what we can get. Keep an eye on your Droid today, owners, and let us know how the experience treats you.

AT&T’s new iPhone app conveys your disappointment in real time
Posted on December 7, 2009 | No Comments
OK, so the bigwigs at AT&T and Verizon have learned to make nice (for the time being at least), but what's a hapless iPhone user to do about dropped calls and other network problems? The AT&T Mark The Spot app offers long-suffering (or even the intermittently bedeviled) customers the ability to ping their carrier in real time, with location-specific feedback, should one experience a coverage crisis. To begin registering your gripes, hit the source link and download away!
