Keeping it real fake: ePhone won’t shatter when you drop it, might melt in the sun
Posted on June 24, 2010 | No CommentsWe're guessing that there won't be many tech sites lineblogging outside the Shenzhen KIRF stalls when the ePhone 4GS finally gets a release date. And it's a shame, really: for knock-off fanatics like ourselves, this thing could be in the big leagues, right up there with the iorgane (that's pronounced "i-orange," by the way). Don't let the industrial design fool you -- unlike the real deal, this thing is all plastic, right up to that silver band wrapping 'round the edges. The rear of the unit boasts the Apple logo and 16GB, and while the first designation is definitely inaccurate, we harboring serious doubts about the latter. But what do you expect for $85? Get a closer look after the break.Continue reading Keeping it real fake: ePhone won't shatter when you drop it, might melt in the sun

Sprint keeps it green, announces the eco-friendly Samsung Restore
Posted on June 4, 2010 | No CommentsEVO 4G? Pah! Why get a 4.3″ inch screen’d, 1 Ghz CPU’d monster of a phone when you can get Sprint’s brand new Samsung Restore? Sure, it might be a bit less ridiculously powerful — but it’s eco-friendly! Made up of 27% recycled materials and 84% recyclable once you’re done with it, the Restore is [...] -
Video: Streetfighter IV on the iPhone gets price and release date
Posted on February 23, 2010 | No Comments
I myself am in the "This will never work"-camp, but Japanese video game giant Capcom is preparing a special version of their hit title "Streetfighter IV" for the iPhone/iPod touch. The announcement was made last week, making the iPhone version the first on a mobile device (the arcade game has been ported to the PS3 and XBox 360 only so far).
And today, Gamepro was able to lay their hands on Streetfighter IV (see their video below), revealing the final version will feature a total of eight characters: Ryu, Ken, Guile, Blanka, Chun-Li, Dhalsim, M. Bison and Abel (the console games have 17 playable characters).

Review: Brooks Glycerin 8 Running Shoes
Posted on February 15, 2010 | No CommentsAs a chronic sufferer of a variety of foot ailments, most of which result directly from running, I can’t stress the importance of good shoes. So when Brooks sent over their 2010 Glycerin 8 shoes – I was keen to try them out. The shoes are supposed to be made of non-Newtonian [...] -

Nokia N900 impressively demos WebGL 3D graphics
Posted on December 3, 2009 | No CommentsWe're not sure anyone out there needs any more proof that the Nokia N900 is powerhouse, but just in case you still had doubts, check this video of a WebGL-enabled Firefox build smoothly rendering some complex 3D models on Espoo's "internet tablet with phone capabilities." It's pretty impressive stuff, especially considering WebGL is still being standardized and it hasn't gotten beyond Firefox nightlies on the desktop yet. Check it after the break.

Droid Eris turns up in Verizon training course
Posted on October 27, 2009 | No CommentsFiled under: Handsets, HTC, Verizon Wireless, Android
Again, we have no idea why Verizon is burying the launch of the HTC Droid Eris alongside the Motorola Droid tomorrow (well, apart from the slow CPU and older Android build) but if you had any doubts that Big Red was going to launch this riff on the Hero, well, these screenshots of the employee training course should put those to rest. Interestingly, the buttons and logo placement are slightly different from the pic that was leaked to gdgt, but this version certainly looks like what Eric Schmidt was holding the other day, so we're thinking this is the final iteration. We'll see what's what tomorrow, we suppose.

RIM is working on a WebKit browser for BlackBerry, and they need help
Posted on October 20, 2009 | No CommentsRIM is good at plenty of stuff: As any sore-thumbed business-type could tell you, they’ve got the whole email thing down. They can pump out software updates for a bunch of handsets at an outright impressive pace. With the BlackBerry Storm2, they’ve shown people that they can build the touchscreen device everyone thought they were [...] -
Maybe, maybe not: New doubts on Blu-ray being part of the next iMac revision
Posted on October 15, 2009 | No CommentsI'm not about to knock myself out for noting the 800th iMac rumor of the past few weeks, so here's the deal: people “close” to Apple now aren't sure whether or not Blu-ray will wind up on the next iMac revision. Blu-ray may be on Mac Pros, and maybe then only as a build-to-order option, but that's enough “maybes” to bore a slug.

Bookies think Modern Warfare 2 will be the best seller this year
Posted on October 9, 2009 | No CommentsAnyone who has any doubts over what will be the best-selling video game this holiday season needs to check himself. It will absolutely be Modern Warfare 2. And while I can say that without anything real being put on the line, Irish bookie Paddy Power has given the game 8/13 odds as being the best-selling game.

Brando has a multi-touch+keypad for you Windows guys
Posted on August 20, 2009 | No CommentsWell look at this, it's a combination Multi-touch touchpad and a plain ol' numeric keypad. (Years from now, when we're all using laptops, or, I guess, touchscreen interfaces, kids will ask, “What's a keypad?”) It's from Brando, if you had any doubts at all as to who makes it.

Homemade Steadicam Almost as Good as Real Thing
Posted on July 14, 2009 | No CommentsIf you have any doubts as to the amazing effect a Steadicam can have on your home-movies, stop reading now and take a look at the video above. Without a Steadicam, this would be a rather dull walk-through video of somebody following kids around the house. With the Steadicam, it is a dreamy, sweeping and [...] -
New service enables total control of factory workers
Posted on July 3, 2009 | No CommentsIn principle, any advance in any field of technology is welcome, but I have my doubts about this new service developed by a Japanese company called DSS. It's basically aimed at establishing a "big brother"-like control system [JP, PDF] within factories.
