    To say our tip box has been inundated with reports of iOS 4 issues today would be something of an understatement. So far, those on staff seem to running cool (with the exception of some slow down on our gold build downloads), but obviously you're a larger sample size with so far widely disparate reports. So tell us, is iOS 4 causing you grief? If so, how? (Note: if you're having multiple problems, pick what you'd consider most troublesome.)

    The mania surrounding "Lost" continues. It has emerged that the series finale now holds the record of being the most downloaded TV show in the history of TV. The final two episodes, within 20 hours of appearing online, were downloaded some 900,000 times. Quite a bit, yes.

    With all the action going down at Google I/0 you can be excused for missing this latest tidbit: the folks behind Wikitude have made the beta version of Drive (their augmented reality personal navigation app) available for free for 2,000 users. And we just got our hands on it, so we know that there are at least a few downloads left at the Android Market. The full-featured demo sports NAVTEQ map data, both AR street view and 3D map view, worldwide coverage, voice commands, and both driving and walking directions. There's no word yet on when the final version will be released, so this might be your last chance for a while to play with what's stacking up to look like a pretty decent application.     Whatever you think about the Kin devices themselves, the one thing most folks can agree on is that their monthly pricing is more than a little out of step with their target audience -- except for Microsoft and Verizon, that is. Speaking to Computerworld, Microsoft senior product manager Greg Sullivan and Verizon spokesperson Brenda Raney both raised the issue of the Kin's ability to backup to the cloud when defending the high monthly price ($30 for data on top of a standard phone plan), with Sullivan saying that once customers "realize the value of this, they'll realize it's a great deal." On another note, Sullivan also used some interesting language when discussing the possibility of app downloads for the Kin, saying that "over the longer term" Microsoft will be "merging" the Kin and Windows Phone 7 platforms and adding downloadable apps. Now, that's not a radical departure from what we've heard from Microsoft before, but "merge" is a curious choice of words, isn't it?

    Just think how much iPadDownload.com would go for if the iPad was an open device that allowed 3rd party downloads? $1 million would be the opening bid. But because you really can't actually download anything directly to the iPad outside of the App Store and iTune's gated community, iPadDownload.com will probably end up being some malicious wares site that will rake in more cash in a week than most of us will ever see over our lifetimes.

    As everybody knows by now, Apple ships the iPad in the Wi-Fi version this month, with the 3G subscription-based model following in April (probably). And as it's AT&T that has secured the right to provide 3G connectivity to iPad users in America, you'd think Randall Stephenson, AT&T's CEO, would be the first person to promote sales of the 3G model. But it's Stephenson who is now quoted as saying that he doesn't expect "(...) a lot of people out there looking for another subscription (...)" and that the iPad wil mainly be a "Wi-Fi driven product". He made the remarks during a webcast of an investor conference yesterday, adding the iPhone, on the other hand, will continue to play an important role for AT&T "for quite some period of time".

    One thing I really love about the iPhone is discovering a new app while I'm out on the town, ignoring friends and family for my phone. I'll check out reviews, look at some screen shots and take the plunge. Then the unexpected happens: the app won't download because the file size is too big.

    I'm starting to suspect people like free stuff - a shocker, I know. Nokia says the new version of Ovi Maps that includes free walk and drive navigation has been downloaded over 1.4 million times since its introduction on 21 January 2010. Nokia says the 1 million mark was reached after just one week following the launch, and the company's Executive VP Anssi Vanjoki adds that they're currently seeing 'a download a second, 24 hours a day'.

    Breaking: Flurry Notices Cupertino-based Users Testing Apps on Apple Tablet

    Flurry, a mobile app analytics company, has noticed approximately 50 devices in the Cupertino that match the characteristics of Apple's tablet device. Flurry claims to have reliably placed these devices on Apple's Cupertino campus, and are confident that they are "observing a group of pre-release tablets in testing." This make sense - as the Apple Tablet has to be tested before it is announced this Wednesday, January 27 in San Francisco. Furthermore, Flurry has been an extremely reliable source on analytics data thus far and don't often break stories unless they are sure they've checked their facts. They've noticed that a large number of the apps downloaded were Games (140 total downloads or launches) and the next group was Entertainment, followed by News and Books.
