Android to get a Playstation emulator thanks to ZodTTD

We like ZodTTD. He's a dude who just gets stuff done. Back in the early days of iPhone jailbreaking, he found his niche in building emulators for the platform; within months, he'd ported over pocket friendly versions of the SNES, Genesis, N64, Playstation, while somehow finding time to build things like an iPhone version of the VLC media player. Now, after much demand by his fans, he's building things for Android. His first project? An as-of-yet unnamed Playstation emulator.

Video: Sony’s new, super-thin OLED display wraps around a pencil

OLEDs, which are said to lead the next wave of innovation in the TV space (after back-lit LCDs and 3D displays), come with plenty of advantages: they produce gorgeous images, they are self-luminous, light, and they're flexible - very flexible. Case in point: a super-thin, Sony-made 4.1-inch OLED that actually wraps around a pencil, shown today in Japan.

  • White front plate looks all set and ready for next-gen iPhone, or not

White front plate looks all set and ready for next-gen iPhone, or not

As our extensive KIRF library shows, China's one wild country that can make almost anything you don't want, so don't mind us while we inspect this new finding with extra caution. This particular Chinese online seller not only claims to have parts for the next-gen iPhone, but also one white face plate -- something not seen on iPhones thus far. While we drool over the thought of an all white Apple handheld, there are still questions to be answered here: the seller wasn't able to explain what that silver bit above the speaker is, nor have we seen white back plates to match this. Furthermore, we were given a "maybe" for a bulk order of 15 to 20 units, which is quite a lot for something that's not even out yet, but we were told over the phone that there's always a back door to Foxconn as long as you wave cash at someone. Not that you should engage in such risky business, plus this piece's authenticity will be revealed in about three weeks' time, anyway. One more shot after the break.

    [Thanks, Francesco]

Clearwire to offer WiMax phones from HTC and Samsung this year

Whenever we talk about WiMax phones (like the oh-so-drool-worthy EVO 4G), we're usually talking about Sprint. Well, Sprint's WiMax is powered by a (not so) little company called Clearwire (which, in turn, is 51% owned by Sprint) -- and they want some WiMax phones of their own. During an earnings call yesterday, the company disclosed that they're planning on launching at least two WiMax handsets this year -- one from Samsung, and one from HTC. One will be powered by Android.. and the other? Its a mystery!

Xperia X10 to launch in April on Vodafone UK (Update: And others!)

If you’d captured all the drool we’ve drooled over the X10 since it first got detailed so many months ago, you’d have a pool deep enough to swim in. A very nasty pool that you shouldn’t actually swim in, but a pool nonetheless. Today, UK wireless carrier Vodafone has announced that they’ll soon be carrying the [...]

Olympus isn’t new a new player in the megazoom game. The camera company’s megazoom line is older than some Jonas Brothers’ fans. And it shows. The new kits are officially drool worthy. The just-annouced SP-800UZ rocks a mega 30x optical zoom paired with dual image stabilization. A 14 MP sensor rests behind that monster and can also capture 720p [...]
