Review: Olympus E-PL1 micro 4/3 digital camera
Posted on March 25, 2010 | No CommentsThis is the year of Micro Four Thirds. While Nikon and Canon still haven’t dipped their toes in this pool, I think it’s time for the average camera user to look at these things seriously and the power and elegance captured in the E-PL1 – and the affordability captured in its $599 price tag. Features: 12-megapixel [...] -
Nikon developing a Canon G11 rival?
Posted on March 3, 2010 | No Comments
The Canon PowerShot G series have always been one of the best compact shooters available. See that pic above? I shot that back in 2003 with a G3. Beautiful, isn't? That's Camp Tapico in Northern Michigan, where I spent every summer of my teenage life. Anyway, word on the street is that Nikon wants some of the action that the G series has enjoyed all by itself for so long. Better late then never, Nikon.

Quick release $14 camera belt clip
Posted on February 8, 2010 | No Comments
Oh man, the unapologetic nerdacity of this product is through the roof. Yet somehow it seems useful and practical. Trying to get a DSRL camera out of a bag packed full of gear isn’t exactly an enjoyable exercise, but neither is walking a conference floor all day with your camera dangling around your neck like a lead balloon.

Does a frozen camera improve its ISO capabilities? 4Chan says so.
Posted on January 23, 2010 | No Comments
Please, take this advice lightly. It came from the bowels of 4Chan, after all. But it seems that a user froze his Sony A350 DSLR and actually got better results when shooting at ISO 3200. The results he posted seem to validate his results, but once again, this is from 4Chan home of everything that is vile, rotten and antisocial on the Internet.

Review: Shutter Buddy
Posted on December 11, 2009 | No CommentsSo we got a Shutter Buddy a few days ago and we gave it a try. What’s a Shutter Buddy, you ask? Well, it’s kind of a satellite dish looking thing that you attach to a point and shoot. It fits over a DSLR, but not quite as well as you’d expect. You waggle the camera [...]
