What exactly makes a camera EVIL?
Posted on November 3, 2009 | No Comments

The new Canon 1D Mark IV can shoot incredible 1080p video and here’s the proof
Posted on October 20, 2009 | No Comments
The Canon 1D Mark IV is finally official, all 16MP, 1080p video shooting of it. The $5000 DSLR is packed with the very best of from Canon. In their usual fashion, DPReview has more info than you probably wanna know about the camera. Besides, you already know that it's kick ass. But remember the dude that shot the first video with the 5D Mark II. Yeah, Canon hooked up with him to do a short with this camera and the results are amazing. Click through to see what I mean.

Canon will not be attending PMA 2010
Posted on September 29, 2009 | 1 Comment
According to this weeks issue of Amateur Photographer, Canon will not be attending PMA 2010. The company is apparently shifting focus away from niche trade shows in order to focus shows like CES that reach more consumers. After all, that's the way Canon's products are going anyway.
We've seen a huge shift in the last five years as the DSLR has moved from the prosumer market to clearly an everyday Joe-type camera. Sure, there will always be high-end products which could be showcased at shows like PMA, but money is tight for everyone including the photography giant and so they need to focus on shows with the furthest reach.

RIP: Nikon D300 officially discontinued
Posted on September 10, 2009 | No Comments
Nikon announced today that they are officially discontinuing the D300 DSLR. That should really not be a surprise as the D300s has been announced, effectively replacing a camera that came out in August of 2007 (that's the equivalent of 25 years in digital photography time).

Olympus pulls the trigger on the E-600 DSLR
Posted on August 31, 2009 | No Comments
Big news (not really) this AM from Olympus with the announcement of the E-600 DSLR. Looks like another entry-level(ish) digital SLR. Big notables for the 12.3-megapixel shooter include a swiveling 2.7-inch LCD and slew of fancy art filters. That’s seriously about it, folks. The E-600 coupled with a 14-42mm f3.5/5.6 kit lens will retail for $600 in November.

Sony goes full-frame with the α850 DSLR, will ship this fall
Posted on August 27, 2009 | No Comments
It seems a little unnecessary but (there's a sucker born every second, right?) the 24.6-megapixel full-frame Exmor CMOS sensor equipped α850 is being geared towards “a broader group of consumers,” says Kristen Elder, the Director of Digital Imaging at Sony. Before you raise an eyebrow and ask why Sony has another full-frame DSLR when the α900 is top dog, ask me how much the α850 is going to be. It’s coming in under $2000, which is $700 cheaper than the α900.

Canon updates the Powershot line, outs the G11, S90 and new digital ELPHs
Posted on August 19, 2009 | No CommentsThe Canon EOS 7D might still be a rumor, but the company has released a whole slew of new cameras without a DSLR in sight. There are a whopping six new cameras, in four product lines. While the digital ELPHs are great, us camera geeks are mostly intersted in the new G11 and S90. Interestingly [...] -

More Nikon D300s pics appear, lets just call this thing real
Posted on July 15, 2009 | No CommentsNikon runs a leaky ship, that’s for sure. The D300s is following the same path that the D5000 blazed. The upcoming DSLR is set to launch shorty according to a leaked release schedule, but here she is. I’m sure it’s safe to say that the D300s is the real deal at this point. -

Nikon D300s and D3000 Photos Possibly Leaked
Posted on June 30, 2009 | No CommentsOf these two Nikon rumors, one looks almost certain to be real, and one looks like a bad fake. First, the D300s, a camera which we actually expect to see announced pretty soon. The specs and a screenshot leaked already, pointing to a video-capable upgrade to the D300 with stereo sound and an SD card [...]
There's a certain enthusiastic group of photographers out there that love to use really cheap and unpredictable cameras to create amazing pictures. The problem is, most of them use film, which is becoming harder and harder to find these days.
