The Skiff Reader is 11.5-inches of pure ebook hotness

CES is bound to be full of slate computers and e-book readers. But the Skiff Reader might stick out from the rest thanks to its huge 11.5-inch display and very thin bezel. That's nearly two inches bigger than the Kindle DX, but yet the whole device is only .25-inches thick. Nice, eh? Oh, and it uses Sprint's 3G network.

Sony Reader Daily Edition adds The New York Times, other newspapers to its back pocket

Should Santa leave a Sony Reader Daily Edition e-reader under your Christmas tree (or maybe you just like to buy fancy things on your own), you'll be pleased to know that you'll have a few more sources of content to choose from. • Nook shipments pushed back again? Nearly impossible to cancel orders?

Nook shipments pushed back again? Nearly impossible to cancel orders?

We just got a troubling tip from a concerned Nook buyer. I say buyer because he still hasn't received his Nook. He ordered the Barnes & Noble ebook reader on November 12 and the device was originally supposed to ship on November 30th. But you may recall that date was pushed back to December 11th Frustrated by the delay, he successfully completed the cancellation process on BN.com only to get an email several hours later that stated his order cannot be canceled because it "has entered the shipping process" even though according to B&N's own website, the Nook will not ship for another three days. Now that's some bull.

  • Kindle for iPhone takes over the world, hits over 60 new countries

Kindle for iPhone takes over the world, hits over 60 new countries

We all now know that Kindle is more than an e-book for Amazon -- it's an entire digital content platform with aims on world domination, which explains why the company has felt more than comfortable releasing software-based readers for other platforms. To that end, they've announced that Kindle for iPhone is now ready for download in over 60 additional countries, which probably overlaps as a pretty beefy subset of the list of countries to which the actual Kindle is shipping. And, unlike the real thing, you'll actually be able to browse the full web with your iPhone -- not to say that HTML on an E Ink display was ever a very satisfying experience to start.

Things to do today that have nothing to do with Modern Warfare 2

I know that there's a certain of percentage of people who want nothing to do with Modern Warfare 2. It's all meatheads and explosions, right? I'm inclined to agree to a degree—Opie and Anthony were talking about the game this morning, and a real life member of the military called in and complained, “If you want to play war, why not join the Army?”—but no matter. There's plenty of things to do today that have nothing to do with the game. Let's take a look!

Nintendo considering adding Kindle-like wireless access to future DS

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't the Amazon Kindle the first device to launch with built-in wireless (that is, cellular data) access? You know, you pay for the device, and then you don't have to pay monthly wireless access because it's already included in the cost of the device? It's pretty neat, I think I can say without too much grief, and is a model that's been copied by other e-book readers. Now it looks like Nintendo is considering such a model for future versions of the Nintendo DS (and not necessarily the XL, mind you). Exciting!
