Natal titles leak ahead of E3, roughly 12 available at launch

As much as I'd love to claim the scoop is ours, the LA Times are actually the ones who got the word on what the first Natal games are going to be. All we have is a few names, but they sound promising.

New Xbox 360 coming soon, Natal to be renamed Kinect

E3 is kicking off tonight and our boys are getting into town as we speak. However, Kotaku grabbed some interesting news tonight including a redesigned XBox as well as the move by Microsoft to rename Project Natal to “Kinect.” Get it? Kin-ect? Like the Kin? Get it? The new 360 will have Wi-Fi built-in, “Kinect” support, [...]

Portal 2 to be released in 2011!

Portal 2 now has an official release date: 2011. So says a fancy e-mail we just got from Valve. That gives you around a year to play it before the world ends, according to people who misinterpret the Mayan calendar.

    Xbox 360 to add Hulu?

From DVR to On-Demand, more and more TV viewers are choosing when they get to watch their favorite programs. The greater question has been how you’ll be able to get all the other content to your screen — stuff like Netflix and Hulu. If you have an Xbox, the latter problem may be a thing of the past.

  • Is this the production version of Project Natal?

Is this the production version of Project Natal?

This is interesting. Engadget's live at D8 where Microsoft is showing off Project Natal. The funny thing is that the hardware looks surprisingly polished, a lot more so than the previous versions we've seen. Everything from the paint scheme to design cues scream production unit. But why spoil all the fun when E3 is just over a week away -- unless Microsoft is showing off something a lot bigger than Natal. That's our guess.

The PSP 2 will be ‘[expletive] powerful’

There will be a PSP 2. No, not some sort of halfway sequel, à la the PSP Go, but an actual, holy smokes PSP 2. That's the rumor, and you'd have to assume that's the case. But the specifics of the rumor, today's incarnation of the rumor, that is, is that the device will be "[expletive] powerful." That's pretty powerful!

  • Sony sales numbers reveal surging PS3, waning PSP

Sony sales numbers reveal surging PS3, waning PSP

Sony just released the numbers from the last fiscal year (April 1, 2009 to March 31, 2010). The good news (for Sony and its shareholders, at least) is that PS3 sales were up quite a bit from the previous year, going from 10.1 million sold to 13 million this year. The bad news is that PSP sales have hit a bump in the road, going from 14.1 million in to 9.9 million. Translating those numbers into English, that means that the PS3 is doing a heck of a lot better than it ever was, and that the PSP, well, isn't.

Microsoft gearing up for worldwide launch of Project Natal in October

In an interview with GamertagRadio, Microsoft Saudi marketing manager Syed Bilal Tariq reportedly spilled the beans on the launch date (well, month) of Project Natal, the Redmond company's motion-sensing camera for the Xbox 360. Not only did Tariq say that Project Natal would be hitting the market in October 2010, well in time for the holiday season, but he apparently also revealed that the launch would be global, or simultaneously in North-America and the EMEA region at the very least.

Omek Interactive Could Blow Microsoft’s Project Natal Out Of The Water (Video)

I've spent 4 full days here in Israel meeting tons of entrepreneurs and startup folks, but if I had to pick one company that made the biggest impression on me it would definitely be Omek Interactive. The company, which unveiled itself to the public for the first time at the Techonomy 2010 conference held in Tel Aviv earlier this week, was co-founded by a couple over 3.5 years ago. Nevertheless, chances are you've never heard that name before. Chances are you've heard of Microsoft's Project Natal though, the fascinating controller-free gaming and entertainment product Microsoft showcased at E3 2009 in June 2009 and is reportedly set to launch at the end of this year. Well, Omek is a tiny startup that aims to take the Redmond software giant on, their product is ready to debut starting today, and they're only now starting to talk to press about their strategy and demoing their amazing technology.

  • Infinity Ward employees sue Activision for up to $500 million over withheld bonuses

Infinity Ward employees sue Activision for up to $500 million over withheld bonuses

Why haven't we applied the "gate" suffix to this Infinity Ward-Activision story yet? "Infinity Gate" has a certain ring to it, sorta sounds the name of a private military company. Anyway, how would you feel if you worked for a company and you made a product. It was a successfully product, like, you made the company $1 billion in just a few months. As per your contract, you're due a certain amount of money (royalties) for your troubles. The thing is, the company says, "Hey, you know that money we owe you? We won't give it to you until you finish another product. If you leave us you forfeit all claims to that money we owe you." Not cool, no, but that's what the Infinity Ward Employee Group now claims.

Xbox 360 Slim to be announced at this year’s E3?

If a notorious game industry news source is believed, Microsoft is announcing a redesigned Xbox 360 this year at E3. The systems will be physically smaller hence the slim name, but also sport a new predominantly black color scheme. The thought is a while Project Natal wouldn't look so hot in front of a black TV and so the console is getting revamped ahead of Natal's launch.

Video: BioWare explains why The Old Republic combat will be super-duper

It'd take a cataclysmic explosion at Yellowstone to knock World of Warcraft off its perch atop MMO Mountain, but if there's one game that will give it a run for its money it's BioWare's The Old Republic. Two reasons for that: one, it's BioWare, and two, it's Star Wars. Star Wars in the capable hands of BioWare = goodness. And I write that knowing absolutely nothing about Star Wars—I only saw Episode I and Episode III! Anyhow, a video!

The goal here is to get the system to market prior to the Christmas shopping madness.

This is either the Nintendo 3DS or an over-the-top mock-up

We’re not sure what to make of this thing. On one hand the design is clearly out of the box in a way Nintendo tends to think, but the twisting and turning seems just a tad too far from the norm to be real. But the Japanese site says it’s the real deal so it [...]
