    Word on the street (Wall Street, that is) is that UFC Undisputed 2010 didn't sell nearly as well as the previous game. There could be a few reasons for that, chief among them that people already had their UFC thirst quenched, so to speak. It was genuinely exciting to play a game with the modern roster (the last game before UFC Undisputed 2009 came out in 2004). The question now becomes, is the world ready for yet another MMA game? I speak not of EA Sports MMA but of Supremacy MMA, a game being developed for the Xbox 360 and PS3 by Kung Fu Factory, published by 505 Games.

    You wouldn't know it, but Strikeforce, TNA to UFC's WWE, has a big show this weekend, and it marks the first time that Alistair Overeem has fought in the U.S. for some three years. This is relevant to us here because EA has revealed that Overeem will, indeed, be in its upcoming EA Sports MMA. That's him on the right. I thought that would have been a given, given that he's the current Strikeforce Heavyweight Champion, but here we are, treating this like it's news. (Overoids, amirite?!)

    How do you know when you're a great athlete? Oh, I don't know, maybe when the top-tier manager of the opposing team calls you a PlayStation! Like, you're so good it's almost as if someone goes into Konami's Pro Evolution Soccer or EA Sports' FIFA, creates a player, than gives said player 12 out of 10 in all the key stats: speed, attack, technical skill, etc. Leo Messi is like a PlayStation.

    Oh boy, I love where EA Sports is going with this. Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11, due out in June, will feature something called “True View,” which allows you to hit your in-game golf shots from a real-life, top-down point of view. When coupled with the Wii MotionPlus accessory, “It works extremely well,” according to IGN.

    Electronic Arts apparently thinks that there’s still some gold in them thar Wii accessory hills, as the company has announced a line of “realistic-looking EA SPORTS golf clubs, tennis rackets and baseball bats for the Wii and Nintendo DSi as well as fitness gear for use with EA SPORTS Active.” EA has partnered with accessory maker Sakar to develop everything.

    If I were Jared Allen, Drew Brees, or Reggie Wayne, I’d run screaming from Doritos and EA Sports. Whether you believe in the Madden Curse or not, the fact remains that just about every player that’s appeared on the cover of one of EA Sports’ Madden games has suffered a serious injury or seen his once-dominant playing ability severely decline.     Strikeforce will air, for free, an MMA fight on the EA Sports MMA Web site this Saturday. It's Jay Hieron vs. Joe Riggs, which is just one fight that's part of a much larger card, one headlined by Nick Diaz vs. Marius Žaromskis. Presumably Mr. Diaz has put down his pipe long enough to pass the required tests.

    After Tiger Woods’ personal indiscretions became public, the championship golfer found himself suddenly devoid of most major sponsorship deals. One of the last big holdouts has been Electronic Arts, makers of the Tiger Woods PGA Tour series of golf games. It’s now been revealed that the company will definitely be standing by Woods, with the next version of the console game to be called “Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11.”
