Android-powered Samsung Galaxy S superphone coming to T-Mobile as the “Vibrant”?
Posted on June 22, 2010 | No CommentsOh, you thought AT&T was the only one getting a custom, branded version of the Samsung’s Galaxy S Android superphone? Nope! T-Mobile’s getting one as well — albeit one that’s not quite as easy on the eyes. CellPhone Signal just unearthed a pretty monstrous heap of details on ol T-Mo’s version of the Galaxy S. What we [...] -
FIFA Soccer 11, Pro Evolution Soccer 11 first details
Posted on June 9, 2010 | No CommentsBoth EA and Konami have revealed details regarding the next FIFA, called FIFA Soccer 10 in the U.S., and Pro Evolution Soccer, called Pro Evolution Soccer 11, games, respectively. The first detail: they exist. There was approximately a zero percent chance that EA and Konami wouldn't continue with the franchises, but you and I know that big corporations make terrible decisions all the time. EA's big new feature is called Personality+, and it aims to make each player in the game as much like the player in real life. That is, Messi should be able to waltz pass defenders in-game as he does for Barcelona week in, week out, while Michael Carrick should be able to complete one pass in 50 as he does for Manchester United. (Exaggerated for effect. folks, so calm down.)

There will be a Mass Effect movie. Will Lost’s Matthew Fox play Commander Shepard?
Posted on May 25, 2010 | No CommentsIt's takes a special type of nerd to read a video game's novelization, and I'm none too proud to say that I recently started reading the Mass Effect novel. But there's a certain quiet dignity in reading a novelization that simply isn't present when sitting at the multiplex (or downloading the Blu-ray rip, as it were) watching a movie. Get ready: EA has sold the movie rights to Mass Effect, and it's gone to Legendary Pictures, the same people behind The Dark Knight, Watchmen, and The Hangover. So there's hope the movie won't be total dross.

Video: This is the Red Dead Redemption launch trailer
Posted on May 13, 2010 | No CommentsOnce upon a time I heard an EA so-and-so, in a totally unofficial capacity, say something to the effect of “western games never sell.” I guess we’ll find out soon enough with the release of Red Dead Redemption. This is the official launch trailer. Will the game be as big as Grand Theft Auto? Maybe not, [...] -
Shock: Graphics being equal, Crysis 2 said to run better on PS3 than Xbox 360 (but best on PC)
Posted on April 16, 2010 | No CommentsIt was only a few days ago that Crytek and EA showed off Crysis 2 to the world's gaming press—and CrunchGear. It looks crazy, yes, and that finely tuned opinion—"it looks crazy"—is based on the Xbox 360 version. But if we believe Crytek's business development boss, then the game runs even better on the PS3 than it does the Xbox 360. The games may look identical, or extraordinarily close to it, but the Xbox 360 is being pushed far harder than the PS3. You probably already knew that, yes.

Latest Battlefield: Bad Company 2 map pack locks, loads (even though maps can’t lock nor load, per se)
Posted on March 30, 2010 | No CommentsSoldats, je suis contents de vous! EA and DICE just released the second VIP map pack for Battlefield: Bad Company 2. I take it I’m the only person on Planet Earth to buy the game strictly for the single-player mode, but go ahead and have fun without me! -

First screenshots of Medal of Honor sure do look familiar…
Posted on March 11, 2010 | No CommentsFresh from EA, here’s the very first screenshots of Medal of Honor, currently scheduled for release this fall. It’s quite modern, if you catch my drift. The game was on display at the same EA event where Jimin and I played FIFA World Cup 2010 last week. There’s very little point in spending many words [...] -
Bravo to Epic Games for porting Unreal Engine 3 to the iPhone
Posted on March 10, 2010 | No CommentsDon't get mad at me—I wanted to go to GDC, but The Man said no. So now we're relying on CNET to bring us word of Epic Games' efforts to bring the Unreal Engine to the iPhone. You may not have even played Unreal for several years, but plenty of big games are based on the engine. Mass Effect and BioShock are based on versions of the engine, as is EA's upcoming Medal of Honor. Just think: playing Unreal on your iPhone. It's almost... unreal.

THQ CEO says Sony’s motion controller is actually named Arc, not Gem
Posted on February 3, 2010 | No CommentsLast time we heard, Sony’s motion controller was named Gem. That was according to EA’s CEO, John Riccitiello, back in early December. But THQ’s head man said today in an investor call that it’s named Arc. Either way it still seems like a novelty Wii Remote controller knock-off to us. Pass. (unless there’s a killer game and then [...] -
CrunchDeals: EA Mobile celebrates Turkey day by slashing the prices of their iPhone Games [Update: And Gameloft!]
Posted on November 25, 2009 | No CommentsThis week, people are hungry for three things: turkey, stuffing, and holiday sales. It’s a bit unlikely that EA Mobile can deliver either of the first two, but they’ve come through on that last one. From today through 11/29, EA Mobile is dropping the price on around 15 of the iPhone games, with discounts coming [...]
