QR-LPD: Bridgestone’s flexible e-paper (video)

Even though it's not an electronics company, Bridgestone (the tire maker) is one of a handful Japanese firms that has been experimenting with e-paper in recent years. Last October, Bridgestone claimed the bragging rights for the world's first flexible e-book reader. And a few days ago, the company showcased the newest version of their e-paper, now named QR-LPD (Quick Response Liquid Power Display), during an industry expo in Tokyo.

What was unthinkable 10 to 20 years ago, has been reality for quite some time now: Not Japanese but Korean electronics companies are dominating the TV hardware market. American market research firm DisplaySearch says regarding shipment value, Samsung has maintained its position as the leader in the global flat-panel TV market last year. And another Korean company is becoming stronger, too.

Tokyo-based home electronics company Lancerlink [JP] has announced the Finemini720 today, a palm-sized LCOS projector. Sized at just 50×150×125mm, the device weighs 800g. It's equipped with a 25W LED, produces 55 lumens of brightness and produces 1,280×768 resolution images.

Yokohama-based electronics company Kumazaki-Aim has announced a "portable" LED video projector [JP] (size: 268×295×92mm, weight: 2.5kg) that won't win any design awards but houses a DVD player. Buyers also get a screen (132×25×980mm) for their money.

iJector: “Mobile theater projector and stereo speaker” for your iPod and iPhone

Tokyo-based electronics company Lancerlink has announced the iJector [JP] today, an LCOS projector that you can use with your iPod or iPhone. Shaped like a dock, the device makes it possible to watch video stored on your iPod on the go via its built-on stereo speakers (3W×2ch).
The deal has been in the making
