HTC HD2 officially coming to US, out in Europe and Asia today!
Posted on November 4, 2009 | No CommentsBe still, our beating hearts! HTC has just pressed the "Go" button for European and Asian shipping of its latest object of desire, and it's served notice to American phone lovers that the HD2 is coming to them soon as well. Slated for a "major US carrier" some time "early 2010," it'll land squarely in the same time bracket as the XPERIA X10, which should lead to some really quite interesting decisions to be made, presumably by March 2010. The WinMo 6.5 device might be shipping now, but you'll have to wait at least until the 9th of November before you can spill your Euros for it, and we expect to see a flurry of pricing and contract information filling that short waiting time. Full PR after the break.

Is the Nokia Booklet 3G just an overpriced netbook? This promo video says so.
Posted on September 2, 2009 | No Comments
Everyone, you can breath easy, the Nokia Booklet 3G is here. It's got an Intel Atom, 120GB HDD, 1GB of RAM, WiFi, HDMI, and 3G. So why the hell does it cost so much? Nokia has set the price of the 3G model - is there a non-3G model? - at 600 Euros, which is roughly $853 USD. That's a lot for a netbook. Especially for one that's basically a cloned version of the Acer Aspire One 3G 10.1-inch. Even the official promo video doesn't present a strong case of what sets this netbook apart.

Nokia Buys Social Addressbook Startup Cellity For The Team
Posted on July 24, 2009 | No Comments
German mobile startup Cellity is getting acquired by Nokia. The sale price was not disclosed, but it is not likely to be more than $10 million to $20 million. About a year ago, Vodafone bought Cellity's competitor Zyb for 31.5 million Euros.
Nokia didn't actually buy the whole company, only "certain assets" and the team, which is usually code for a fire sale. Cellity had a Series A round of funding in 2007, led by Mangrove Capital Partners.
