Primo Battery Cube brings extra life to your mini or microUSB devices, is not actually a cube
If you, like we, were disappointed by mophie's unwillingness to support anything lacking an Apple dock port in its new line of juice packs, here's an alternative. Primo is launching the Battery Cube, a decidedly non-cube-shaped device that is perhaps a bit chubby but manages compatibility with either micro or miniUSB devices. The $40 battery, which launches on July 12, charges over USB, packs a 1,000mAh cell inside, and sports four LED lights on top to give you an idea of just how many of those milliampere-hours have yet to be served. Oh, and it's shape, because of its unequal sides it's actually a cuboid, not a cube. But of course you knew that, you geometry whiz you.

  • No pre-order? AT&T won’t have an iPhone 4 for you until June 29

No pre-order? AT&T won’t have an iPhone 4 for you until June 29

The thinking all along was that there'd be an allocation of unreserved iPhone 4s in AT&T stores this Thursday for customers who didn't bother to (or couldn't) pre-order the phone ahead of time, but not so much. Turns out that the extra stock won't be arriving until June 29, at which point it'll be available on a first-come, first-serve basis (read: every man, woman, and child for themselves) both in stores and online. Of course, this is strictly an AT&T announcement -- Apple Stores and Best Buys are still possibilities -- but basically, there's no point in lining up on the 24th at your local AT&T shop unless you've got confirmation that a reserved phone is available for you. Follow the break for AT&T's full statement.

Delightful rumor: Verizon Wireless testing the iPad on its network

Oh my heavens. Someone close to someone else says that Verizon Wireless is testing the iPad on its network. Does that mean we could be looking at an iPad that works with Verizon Wireless? And would that mean an iPhone is far behind?

AT&T iPhone tethering to cost $20 a month extra, requires you to ditch your unlimited data plan

Gather round, everyone! It's time for this week's edition of "Good news, bad news" -- only this week, "bad news" is being supplanted by "terrible news". The good news: As we touched upon earlier, AT&T has finally confirmed that iPhone tethering will launch this summer. The bad terrible news: You'd have to be pretty crazy to bother with it.

AT&T announces new data plans, unlimited data nowhere to be seen

Today is a sad day in data land. AT&T have just announced two new mobile data plans with one glaring omission: no more unlimited data. There is some consolation, though, as those of you currently on unlimited plans are welcome to keep them. As of June 7, however, any new customers wanting the all-you-can-eat data buffet will be left hungry -- and that includes new iPad owners.

  • Stores open early June 4th for EVO 4G with mobile hotspot loophole

Stores open early June 4th for EVO 4G with mobile hotspot loophole

When you've got the world's most desired** handset, you don't keep people waiting. As such, Sprint is recommending that its "preferred retailers" open extra early on June 4th. That should give you a bit of time to grab the new EVO 4G on the way to the office for some good ol' fashioned bragging rights in the cubicle farm. At least until you remember that one-third of your life is spent working inside of a beige box. Oh and here's a pro tip: according to the official EVO 4G Launch Guide we're staring at, the mobile hotspot functionality that turns your EVO into a WiMax hotspot for up to 8 devices will initially work without paying the $29.99 monthly fee if you're happy with using it on 4G only (no 3G). Sprint expects to correct this sometime in July after which the Sprint Mobile Hotspot add-on will require activation. Read the details for yourself after the break.

** assuming you have WiMax coverage

T-Mobile’s update for HTC HD2 now extra official, wipes some game purchases

On the list of ways to not foster customer satisfaction, deleting purchased apps with no recourse for getting them back has to be very, very high on the list, doesn't it? T-Mobile's now trumpeting that sort-of-leaked official update for the HD2 that features "stability and performance improvements" on top of a new ROM-integrated T-Mobile MyAccount app, but if you purchased the full versions of the demo games that came bundled with your phone, beware: installing the upgrade will wipe you out, and the only advice T-Mobile has for you is to "re-purchase them at the standard cost." Gee, thanks, guys!

Skype Offers Free WiFi to Ease the Airport Pain

Airports are wonderful places, aren't they? Everyone is friendly, the seats are comfortable, the prices reasonable, and the food delicious. I love hanging around airports. I relish the time between connecting flights, and I have been known to pack my bags and drive to the nearest international airport just to hang out and pretend I'm waiting for a flight. However, I realise that these feelings aren't universal; there are some people out there who don't enjoy airports. While I would be happy to relish in the extra few days of airport merriment that the recent flight cancellations have caused, Skype seem to think I'm in the minority, and have taken it upon themselves to give free internet access at more than 100,000 WiFi hotspots worldwide.

Russia might build an extra Soyuz just for space tourists

Russia might be getting back into the space tourism business in a big way. There’s a chance that construction will begin on a new Soyuz spaceship this year to carry just tourists up into the wide vasts of space and then to the stinky confines of the ISS. I’m jealous.
