Video: Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands: John Morrison jumps around, fights a sand monster

Ubisoft hasn't given up on the Prince of Persia series just yet (despite the fact that Assassin's Creed is essentially Persia of Persia with a different pair of shoes). There's the movie with that guy, and the just-announced Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands. It's coming out in May of 2010 for all the usual suspects.

LG Lotus 2 gets caught on camera, touchscreen and all

Way back in early October, we broke the story that an LG Lotus 2 was in the works. At the time, more than a few people didn’t seem to believe that a followup to the original Sprint Lotus would rock a touchscreen on the face. This morning, pics of the device have surfaced, and whaddya [...]

QiGi’s Smartbook is more like a WinMo 6.5-powered MID

We're going on the assumption here that the lads and ladies over at QiGi haven't actually heard that "smartbooks" have a vaguely defined look and feel, as the outfit's latest handheld definitely looks nothing like the smartbooks that we've seen emerge over the past few months. In fact, the Windows Mobile 6.5-equipped device looks more like a MID than anything else, boasting a 5-inch 800 x 480 display, only a few face-mounted buttons and 1GB of memory. Hit the read link if you're interested in a poorly translated review, and good luck finding one of these in the open market (at least with an English-language operating system).

Peter Moore: Yeah, disc-based games will go the way of the [insert extinct animal here]

Looks like EA finally understands what we've been talking about for a while now: that, in just a few year's time, we'll look back at disc-based media (here, video games) and be all, “Man, how quaint.” Peter Moore, who's the president of EA Sports (no minor position, that), called the disc-based distribution model a “burning platform,” and that companies are either staring in the face of “probable” death or “certain” death, depending on how they want to go about things.

    HTC HD2! United States! Q1 2010!

Bam! There we were complaining that it would likely be a long time before the mind-blowingly gorgeous HTC HD2 showed its face stateside, and SlashGear managed to get a date out of them. According to HTC CEO Peter Chou, we should see this hit the shores sometime in Q1 of 2010. Sure, it’ll still be [...]

Sprint LG Lotus 2 coming in January, will rock a touchscreen face?

Be honest: the first time you saw the somewhat-short, somewhat-stout LG Lotus, did you think it would be successful enough to get a sequel? Looks like it was. One of our sources just spilled the beans on what we're tentatively calling the "Lotus 2", for lack of a better name. It's sounding a whole lot like the original so far, with just a few little tweaks thrown in for good measure.

To heck with hybrid media on the iPad. Go read a Vook, Vooker!

What is a Vook? It's a virtual book created by Simon and Schuster to apparently allow you to no only read a book but play video inside of it, share it with our friends on FaceLinker, and even allows us to look at collections of small markings called letters and form them into words in our minds. Amazing! The service, Vook.com, allows you to buy books in PC-based Vook format or in an iPhone App. The titles include and are limited to a cookbook, some kind of workout book, and some thriller. There is also one where someone puts leaves on her face.

Now it’s Mininova’s turn: Ordered to remove all infringing content, or else!

Scratch one Web site off that “alternative to The Pirate Bay” list. Mininova has been ordered by a Dutch court to remove all links to copyrighted items from its servers, or face fines to the tune of €5 million. It’s time for The Pirate Bay to die

You need only one word to describe The Pirate Bay. It comes from the Ancient Greek, is six letters long, and entered the English language in 1884, some 120 years before the Web site's founding. When The Pirate Bay starts to compare its struggles to those of Western Europe during World War II—you know, the struggle against Nazi Germany—only one word is needed. That word is hubris, and if it were possible to die from hubris, The Pirate Bay would have already expired. Hopefully there's no such thing as copyright in Heaven (or Hell).

Whistlin’ in the dark – Leica opens first US store

In what some would call a rather interesting move, Leica has decided to open it's first store in the U.S. in West Palm Beach, Florida. This is interesting because, well, let's face it, Leica is unapologetically not a bargain brand. They are also building a series of studios, classrooms, and other spaces to support the retail location.
