Help Key: Syncing and sharing on the iPad

I did a quick exploration of the syncing and sharing features for the iPad and found them slightly confusing but, ultimately, robust. Here are a few issues/findings I think you’ll be interested in: No PDF support – You can drag ePub files over to your iPad and they will appear in the reader. However, you will [...]

Best Buy now hawking Viliv’s wares

Viliv makes some hot, little portables. That's a fact. The X70 and S5 touchscreen along with the S7 convertible netbook are among the best in their respective niche markets. But previously the products were only available from online retailers, which of course limits their visibility from a whole segment of potential customers. Starting Monday though, Best Buy shoppers will be able to pick up the products in store and online. There will even be an instant rebate available on the none-3G modem-equipped models.

    AirStash: Wireless portable storage

If you’re like me, you thought the AirStash was a mustache that floats in the air, like those seed things in Avatar, only not glowy. But the AirStash is actually a USB key with built-in SD card slot that can, in a few seconds, create a private hotspot that allows you to share the media [...]

Dropcam gets an updated iPhone App

I like a secure household. I like to back up my seismics with a perimeter of screamers and I like to keep a webcam trained on my front door. One problem, however, has been viewing my perimeter remotely with my iPhone. It is a problem no more. Dropcam, makers of $199 wireless webcams, have released an updated iPhone app that let's you add cameras to your system with a minimum of fuss and muss. Each camera pops up on the app as its started and you can view images over Wi-Fi and 3G anywhere in the world.

Michael Dell shows off the Mini 5, confirms US arrival?

The Dell Mini 5, Dell's Android-powered Snapdragon slate, popped up at CES this year but we never got a clear look at it. However, when the CEO of Dell rolls into the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, he can show off anything he wants and our boss got a quick hands-on in the Swiss slush. To recap, the Mini 5 is a 1GHz Snapdragon-powered netpad (did I just coin a phrase?) running Android 1.6 with 5-megapixel camera, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and 3G mobile. It should be selling for $1,098 before carrier subsidy.

Unnamed Sony Ericsson QWERTY phone spotted in the wild [Updated]

I’ll go ahead and say it: the fact that this unnamed, mostly undetailed Sony Ericsson touchscreen/QWERTY handset is running Symbian S60 5th Edition rather than Android is a travesty. We only know that it’s running 5th Edition because of the one leaked shot you see above — and outside of that, we dont know a whole [...]

LG Arena GT950 leaks out with AT&T branding

Looks like AT&T is about to get a version of the LG Arena -- these shots of a GT950 with the carrier's branding just hit the tubes. The phone hasn't been officially announced by either AT&T or LG, but the safe bet is that the 950 is just a bespoke variant of the familiar Arena KM900, so look for a three-inch 800 x 480 touchscreen with LG's S-Class UI, a five megapixel camera, GPS, Wi-Fi, and 8GB of storage. We'll have to see whether this hits at CES next week or MWC in February -- but until then you can get a feel for this thing by checking out our KM900 hands-on video right here.

Sprint Overdrive dual-mode WiMAX / EV-DO mobile hotspot leaks into the wild (update: $50 U301 on contract?)

Move over, MiFi -- this Sprint Overdrive dual-mode WiMAX / EV-DO mobile hotspot that just hit our inbox has taken over as our new object of broadband desire. Our tipster says internal training on the Sierra-built device has already begun, and that the unit itself features a microSD slot, support for location services, and has a 100-foot Wi-Fi range -- but sadly we don't have pricing or availability deets to share yet. We're hoping we find out more at CES -- and we'd bet that new dual-mode U301 WiMAX modem that leaked a couple weeks ago makes an appearance as well. Fingers crossed.

Update: The same tipster that sent us the information to start with is back with a few tidbits on the U301. According to the anonymous individual, that USB modem will be launching in February for $49.99 on contract. Also on the horizon? A WiMAX home desktop modem with a special price plan of its own.

The Owen E1 E-Book reader brings some sexy curves to e-readers

E-readers don't always have to be stark slate's of modern art and the Owen E1 E-Book is anything but. You just know by looking at it that it's comfy to use and should fit into more pockets thanks to its rounded edges and smallish 5-inch screen. But it doesn't matter, you probably won't be able to buy it anytime soon.

Today Taptu announced that they've rolled the real-time search results into their iPhone app.

CrunchDeals: Flip MinoHD camcorder for $120

Ho ho ho, this may be the lowest price you’ll see on a new Flip MinoHD camcorder for a while. Amazon’s got them for $120, today only, down from $160. To be honest, Cisco just bought Flip and they’re expected to unveil some new products at CES (like, perhaps, Wi-Fi enabled camcorders?) so Flip might just be blowing these things out to make room for the new stuff. Either way, today you get a somewhat reasonably-priced pocket camcorder.
