Spain’s David Villa: That second goal against Poland was something out of a video game
Posted on June 9, 2010 | No CommentsContinuing with our (well, my) nearly non-stop World Cup coverage! Spain beat Poland yesterday 6-0 in Murcia. It was an awesome display, and an illustration of why Spain are the favorites to win the tournament. And yes, there is a tech connection~! That second goal, my word...

Only one game per matchday will be in 3D during the World Cup
Posted on April 8, 2010 | No CommentsMore info on Sony and FIFA's plan to bring us the World Cup in 3D. It turns out that Sony will only film one game per matchday in 3D. That's for all 25 days of the tournament, so if multiple games are played on the same day only one game, presumably the highest profile, will get the 3D treatment.

Messi: You know you’re good when people compare you to a PlayStation!
Posted on April 7, 2010 | No CommentsHow do you know when you're a great athlete? Oh, I don't know, maybe when the top-tier manager of the opposing team calls you a PlayStation! Like, you're so good it's almost as if someone goes into Konami's Pro Evolution Soccer or EA Sports' FIFA, creates a player, than gives said player 12 out of 10 in all the key stats: speed, attack, technical skill, etc. Leo Messi is like a PlayStation.

First sales reports: PSP Go performing ‘within expectations,’ says Sony
Posted on October 5, 2009 | No CommentsSo the PS3 Slim was an absolute monster at retail (look at us, using superlative adjectives on a Monday!), selling one million systems since its release. (Keep in mind that's an old number by now.) How's the PSP Go doing? It's doing well, yes, but I don't think we can call it a monster yet. Sales in the UK were up 120 percent in the week following its launch. We don't have U.S. numbers yet. Sorry.

Pro Evolution Soccer 10 gets 360-degree control
Posted on August 20, 2009 | No CommentsI like FIFA as much as the next guy, but, in my heart of hearts, I'm a PES guy. (I just finished a La Liga season with Barça about a week ago. Undefeated, normal mode. R-E-S-P-E-C-T.) So it's good to see thatKonami will introduce full 360-degree control in PES 10 . No more eight-way control, then.

Yes, that’s FIFA 10 on Swindon Town’s kit
Posted on July 27, 2009 | No CommentsI can guarantee than maybe 5 percent of you have ever heard of Swindon Town Football Club, but the team's partnership with EA FIFA 10 should make them a powerhouse in the Manchester City sense sooner rather than later. For this season, and this season only, the team's players will be running around the pitch with the FIFA 10 logo emblazoned on their chests.
