Zygor’s guides are half-off this week, World of Warcraft peeps

Just a friendly heads-up, gents. A few months ago, I mentioned the release of Zygor 2.0 for World of Warcraft. Zygor, of course, is an in-game leveling guide that makes going from level 1 to level 80 pretty painless. Crushingly boring and repetitive—much of the sense of adventure is lost following step-by-step, but that's the same with any strategy guide—but painless nonetheless. Anyhow, the guide is on sale this week, and if you were ever thinking about getting it, but were put off by its price, well...

Pink Floyd only wants you to download their entire albums, not individual songs

There was an interesting debate on today's Ron and Fez that speaks to a subject we've been whinging about for some time now: digital delivery of content, specifically of music. Pink Floyd has won a court ruling that will put an end to places like iTunes selling its songs individually. The band feels that their music can only truly be appreciated in the album format, from start to finish, and it never liked people being able to pick and choose what songs they wanted to download.

Apparently the entire NBA consists of gamers

Kobe Bryant: huge nerd. Granted, he's probably the best basketball player since Michael Jordan—LeBron would really benefit from winning a ring or two—but if you're traveling the country armed with a fully portable Xbox 360 and customized PSP, then yeah, you're a huge nerd. Not that there's anything wrong with that, of course.

Final Fantasy I and II for iPhone get release dates

Since we’ve spent two posts covering Street Fighter IV, a game that will presumably be terrible to play on the iPhone, I thought it was only fair to give a bit more love to a game that should be awesome on the iPhone. Actually, two games: Final Fantasy I and II. We knew they were coming [...]

  • Bizarre trailer for Japanese erotic video game features Obama

Bizarre trailer for Japanese erotic video game features Obama

The market for video and computer games featuring erotic content, the so-called eroge, is huge in Japan. As a lot of smaller and independent software companies are battling it out in a highly competitive field, you often come across a lot of bizarre stuff (I've heard). School girl- or tentacle-themed games, for example, are especially popular (although the bulk of the latter are being shipped to a person called Bohn Jiggs who lives in Brooklyn/New York, as my industry contacts told me recently). Another of those strange erotic games, called "My Boyfriend Is the President", hit Japanese stores on October 30. The plot: Aliens brainwash the entire human population into thinking their leaders are in fact cute girls. I'm not sure what the developers were smoking, but I'm sure this game will become as big as the next Final Fantasy.

Muito obrigado, Dragon Quest: Nintendo DS sales double after game’s release

Just how big is Dragon Quest in Japan? Not only did the game sell some 2.3 million copies already, but it helped double the sales of the Nintendo DS. In MMA terms, Dragon Quest is a huge, Brock Lesnar-like draw.

She’s my final fantasy: G4’s ‘Girl at the Video Game Store’ music video is unexpectedly really good

Oh, how I wanted to hate this video. Yesterday was the thousandth episode of Attack of the Show—how did you celebrate?—and while I only caught about two minutes in between commercials of whatever else I was watching (I think it was a documentary about salt; I'm not joking), I did manage to catch the tail end of this video. It's “The Girl at the Video Game Store,” a song written by Parry Gripp; the video was directed by Michael W. Shaw, of G4.

E3 2009: Why would you buy a PS3 in this day and age?

Are any of you ardent Sony PS3 supporters concerned with the way things have turned out? You lost Final Fantasy exclusivity (well, outside of Japan) at last year's E3, and Metal Gear this year. Those are two of the biggest franchises that made PlayStation what it is today. Or what it was yesterday, as it were. I'm just trying to think, if I were to buy a PS3 today, what's in it for me?
