iPhone and Magic Mouse linked up by BTstack (video)

Even though you probably still can't figure out what good the ability to connect your Bluetooth keyboard to your iPhone will do, the BTstack project is steaming ahead with this demo of a connected Magic Mouse twirling its pointer all over Apple's handset. The driver code is still unreleased, but we get to see some nice lag-free interaction between the two devices, suggesting it shouldn't be too far away from public consumption. As if to answer your earlier quandary, the video also features a Celluon CL800BT virtual keyboard, which projects onto and responds to your touch of any flat surface. A gimmick most likely, but a fun journey into the dream of nomadic computing nonetheless. Check out all the action after the break.

    [Thanks, Daniel]

  • Review: idox Traveler Series iPod touch case

Review: idox Traveler Series iPod touch case

idox - touch Platinum Short Version: As the owner of an iPod touch (2G), I was happy to give this case/stand a spin on my recent trip over to Ireland. Generally speaking, the case provided adequate protection of the touch (albeit leaving the top and bottom slightly exposed), was very handy for watching videos on the plane, and worked great for transforming the touch into a bedside alarm clock. With a MSRP of $34.95, I'd love to see the price come down a touch (zing!), but overall, the idox Traveler Series is a respectable case/stand combo choice.

    Review: Yubz MAGNUM Bluetooth speaker

yubz magnumBluetooth is one of those funny technologies that has an awful lot of potential, but with very few actually useful implementations. Bluetooth headsets are no longer cool. Bluetooth mice and keyboards are quickly becoming the de facto devices for this technology. What else is there? Well, friends, I'm here to tell you that the YUBZ MAGNUM is nearly perfect Bluetooth gadget.

Steering wheel for iPhone — yes, iPhone

wheelIn what may be considered an enormous oversight on Apple's part, tilt-to-steer racing games require weak technology lovers to hold their arms up in the air for tens of minutes. Tens! No iPhone owner possibly has that kind of upper body strength. A company called CTA Digital knows this and has thankfully developed a racing wheel accessory.

Type much? Watch out for data-thieving lasers and power outlets

hamburglarArticles like this make me glad I lead a relatively boring life and rarely type anything interesting enough to steal (or even read?) into my computer. Hackers will demonstrate a couple new methods of data theft at Black Hat USA 2009 in Vegas later this month. Both methods involve reading which individual keyboard keys are struck from afar. One method reads the impulses through electrical outlets and the other uses a laser shined on a flat surface of the computer to detect the minute wobble generated when each key is struck.
