Seagate makes the wafer-thin 2.5-inch Momentus hard drive official
Posted on December 14, 2009 | No CommentsWe knew this hard drive was coming, but the info we had suggested that it was going to make a CES debut. No matter, the 7mm thin Seagate Momentus hard drive is official and Seagate is calling it the thinnest in the world. In the world! The technical specs that leaked early all seem right on. The 8MB, [...] -
Acer Liquid A1 hits the FCC with AT&T’s HSDPA flavors
Posted on December 11, 2009 | No CommentsIt's already selling in Europe with one of AT&T's 3G bands, but the prospect of a US-friendly Acer Liquid A1 just got real, governmental-involvement style. The FCC has approved a 850 / 1900MHz version of the Android device, and while this is no guarantee of an AT&T berth -- much of Canada is crowding in on this spectrum, not to mention the possibility of selling the phone unlocked and unsubsidized -- we're massaging our temples this very second with the appropriate good vibrations to get this thing out and about in the States and on the cheap.Acer Liquid A1 hits the FCC with AT&T's HSDPA flavors originally appeared on Engadget on Fri, 11 Dec 2009 13:04:00 EST. Reviews: Crazy Japanese Kit Kats
Posted on December 11, 2009 | No CommentsFor some reason JList sent me a box of Kit Kats. These aren’t just any Kit Kats. They’re Japanese Kit Kats. If the Japanese are good at anything, it’s making the familiar inexplicably strange. So I decided to open up all of these Kit Kats and try them for you. I came away somewhat disappointed – [...] -

iPhone 3GS coming to Orange UK on November 10
Posted on October 26, 2009 | No CommentsFiled under: Handsets, Orange, GSM, HSDPA, Apple, iPhone OS
So you've been lusting after that spit-shined touchy-swipey device from Apple, huh? If you're in the UK, come November 10 you'll finally have a choice of iPhone provider (both for 3G and 3GS flavors), with The Guardian confirming the date as Orange's launch of the coveted handset. O2's exclusivity runs out on the ninth of that month, but we shouldn't be too quick to rejoice, as Orange will seek to "add value" rather than undercut O2's pricing. Independent retailers Carphone Warehouse and Phones4U are also expected to stock the iPhone on behalf of Orange, and lest we forget Vodafone will be joining in with its own offering in early 2010. The CEO of 3 has also indicated a strong desire to bring Cupertino's baby onboard, though that's unlikely to happen before the midpoint of next year. So it'll get cheaper, just very... very slowly.iPhone 3GS coming to Orange UK on November 10 originally appeared on Engadget Mobile on Mon, 26 Oct 2009 08:43:00 EST. The Samsung R1 is a PMP, all right
Posted on August 31, 2009 | No CommentsThe “anybody but iPod” crowd has another portable media player to choose from, and it's from Samsung. It's called the R1, and it's your standard issue touchscreen PMP. It does play Divx-encoded video, which should be a benefit to those of you who haven't moved into Blu-ray rips, or who enjoy watching standard-def rips of TV shows on the subway.

Star Wars USB flash drives now available in Darth Vader, Ewok, and C-3PO flavors
Posted on August 23, 2009 | No Comments
Look at these big-head Star Wars USB flash drives! They're adorable. Ewoks were always adorable, and C-3PO had a certain lovable charm but now even Darth Vader's getting in on the fun. He'll lull you into a false sense of security and then do that thing where he chokes you from across the room without actually touching you.

Look, Batman, there’s a World of Warcraft headset from Creative coming right at us!
Posted on August 18, 2009 | No CommentsThis could be the most important week in the history of Creation. Blizzcon starts on Friday—once again Blizzard reminded me in an e-mail that I can purchase the Web stream or DirecTV pay-per-view for $40—and we're sure to be hanging on the company's every word re: World of Warcraft: Cataclysm. Today's hot news is that Creative will release a World of Warcraft-branded headset in November. Look for it around $100-$150.

OMG! DIY Drumsticks!
Posted on August 6, 2009 | No CommentsI can’t eat much ice cream these days. Sure I’ll have a cup of this or that but those weird, multi-colored popsicles I can’t do and most of the tasty treets in my grocer’s freezer are pretty much garbage. But how can I meld my love of tasty treets with good old healthy ice-cream unadulterated [...] -
Store your data on an ice cream bar with deliciously easy file transfers
Posted on July 22, 2009 | No Comments
Yum. Ice cream bars and external data solutions are, without a doubt, two of my favorite things. Actually, I don't back up all that often (I'm in the cloud, baby!) and frozen confections give me headaches. But this concept actually makes a whole lot of sense and it looks good, to boot.
