Not too many details at the moment, just some pics that Electricpig snapped of a handset running a proof-of-concept app that relys on an external device for reception, streaming re-runs of Mayberry R.F.D. to your handset via WiFi. No word yet on the when this device might actually go "prime time," but with any luck the five pocket TV enthusiasts out there may someday be freed from the tyranny of the FLO TV Personal Television. The Qualcomm FLO TV is now available if anyone cares
Posted on November 13, 2009 | No Comments
The Qualcomm FLO TV is a nifty little device. It plays TV content on a 3.5-inch screen, which could be great for some. But you have it's $8.99 a month for the service and pay the $249.99 initial cost. And it results in yet another mobile device for you to carry even though your smartphone can playback videos.

Qualcomm has been working on their FLO TV technology, but there is more to it then we originally thought. The new tech will be using a new type of display screen, a passive technology known as "mirasol". Details are still sketchy at this time, but as you can see from the video, there's more then a little potential there.

The Qualcomm FLO TV retail box leaks out, launch imminent?
Posted on September 30, 2009 | No Comments
The Qualcomm FLO TV is slowly taking shape. First we saw early concept art, which was followed by our exlucisive shots of the interface. But the just last week we saw a leaked photo and learned that it was manufactured by HTC. Today though, the retail packaging has been spotted. So...really the only thing left is the actual product announcement, which can't be that far off. Hopefully.

New Verizon HTC Imagio shots surface, release date still unknown

Qualcomm’s FLO TV spied, reveals little [update]
Posted on September 23, 2009 | No Comments
Info about the Qualcomm FLO TV has been slowly leaking out the last few weeks. First we saw early concept art, then we released the first screenshots, but now it seems Boy Genius has a pic of the real deal. Sure enough, it sports a 4:3-ish screen just like the screenshots indicated. Besides that little tid-bit there isn't anything else surprise that this pic reveals. We already knew that it was a pocketable FLO TV unit, what did you expect it to look like?

Qualcomm FLO TV user interface images leak into our inbox
Posted on September 8, 2009 | No Comments
Well look at this. We still don't know any hard facts about the Qualcomm FLO TV product, but a highly reliable source just confirmed to us that yes, it does exist and that these images are of the user interface. Even better, we might get more info later this week about the hardware, availability and/or price.
That last point is what we would really like to know. FLO TV is great and all, but the current offering doesn't present enough benefit for the cost. Maybe a larger screen than a cell phone will help justify it. Oh, and more TV stations would be nice too. But let's speculate a few things from these pics. That's always fun.

Qualcomm (they probably made the chipset you're using in your phone) is working on bringing a new type of product to the US, the FLO TV. Roughly the size of an iPhone, the FLO TV is intended to allow you to watch digital TV broadcasts on the go.
