Like many Japanese institutions of higher education, the Chiba Institute Of Technology boasts a faculty or laboratory, which conducts research on nothing but robots. This particular institute's Department of Advanced Robotics [JP] has been pretty much flying under the radar in recent years, but the department opened a very interesting YouTube channel recently.
And some of the robots the researchers in Chiba (just outside Tokyo) have manufactured so far are pretty impressive. Here are four of them.

We already knew that Apple was likely ratcheting up the social networking integration in iOS 4 -- that is, if the addition of Linked Contacts and .plist entries referring to Facebook means anything (and it probably does). Adding further flame to the fire, the gang at 9to5Mac.com have dug up a bit of code that appears to handle video exporting to the popular social networking site. HTC EVO 4G performance capped at 30fps

The super spec'ed HTC EVO 4G has been taking a bit of a beating lately -- what with its woeful battery performance and exaggerated sales claims -- but this latest report falls on the far side of peculiar.
Users over at XDA are reporting that the framerate of the device seems to be capped at 30fps in both 2D and 3D modes. I say "capped" because a device with these kinds of specs should be hitting much higher framerates.

Nexus One steps up to 720p HD video thanks to latest hack (video)

The indefatigable coders over at xda-developers have just pushed out a download that allows the Nexus One to start shooting video at 720p resolution. You'll need to have at least CyanogenMod version 5.0.8test3, but once you get your house in order, you'll be enjoying one of the big touted features of the latest handsets on your five-month old Googlephone. Pretty neat, and what's even better is that work is already underway to improve audio and the fps rate, as well as making the code compatible with Android Froyo, it all just requires a bit more tinkering. Video: Medal of Honor trailer reveals upcoming beta
Posted on May 6, 2010 | No CommentsA new trailer just posted to the Medal of Honor Web site pretty much checks all the boxes on the Big Checklist of FPS Trailer requirements. Sad, dramatic music; military man talking to his wife on the phone in a reassuring manner "I love you, we're OK because we're trained for this sort of thing, don't forget to have the car inspected," etc.; flash, bang, explosion, fade to black. I really don't know how many of these games I can take. That's not saying it'll be a bad game—I played it, and it is, in fact, quite good&,dash;but I do believe I'm tiring of playing toy soldier.

The Razer Abyssus Mirror Special Edition is pretty and shiny

Razer introduced the world to its ambidextrous Abyssus gaming mouse late last year and now we're seeing the second member to the line. While we weren't too happy about its $50 price tag seeing as its just a simple two button mouse, we knew deep down it's a quality kit. Razer doesn't put out bad products. The company just outed the Abyssus Mirror Special Edition that packs all the same high-end components in a package that has, well, a mirror finish. At least the price is the same.

Today marks the first official release since that magical day. And let me tell you something: Dolphin works really, really well. Give it a shot when you have a chance.

It's no coincidence that Crtyek, the game's developers, and EA, the game's publisher, chose New York to show off the game, with Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli calling the city "symbolic of the pride of mankind." Clearly he hasn't been to the more rubbish sections of Queens. Yes, you're in an altogether different type of jungle this go-round.

Toshiba’s UX600 TV line is certified as Windows 7 compatible

Toshiba’s new UX600 Cinema Series line of LED TVs is the first of its kind to receive a compatible with the Windows 7 operating system certification. What this means is that the UX600s have the ability to use Window 7’s “Play To” feature to play music, pictures, and videos by connecting to your home network through Ethernet or wireless connectivity.

XScorch 360 controller brings a mouse to the Xbox

Like many FPS gamers of a certain age, I started with the WASD keyboard/mouse control system. As such, I have issues with using a controller to play games on a console, and really wish that someone would come out with a keyboard and mouse control system. There's been a few that come close, and the Scorch 360 looks like another also-ran.
