The Playstation Move is a Wii clone – but it’s awesome
Posted on June 16, 2010 | No CommentsThe Playstation Move is just what it looks like: a Wii clone. It feels the same, looks the same, and works the same. That’s a good thing, though. Everyone and their grandmother has played Wii bowling and knows how it works. Sony isn’t reinventing motion control with the Move. They are, however, seriously improving it. A [...] -
HTC EVO 4G performance capped at 30fps
Posted on June 11, 2010 | No Comments
The super spec'ed HTC EVO 4G has been taking a bit of a beating lately -- what with its woeful battery performance and exaggerated sales claims -- but this latest report falls on the far side of peculiar.
Users over at XDA are reporting that the framerate of the device seems to be capped at 30fps in both 2D and 3D modes. I say "capped" because a device with these kinds of specs should be hitting much higher framerates.

Nexus One steps up to 720p HD video thanks to latest hack (video)
Posted on June 9, 2010 | No CommentsJust more evidence that rooting is the only true path of the geek. The indefatigable coders over at xda-developers have just pushed out a download that allows the Nexus One to start shooting video at 720p resolution. You'll need to have at least CyanogenMod version 5.0.8test3, but once you get your house in order, you'll be enjoying one of the big touted features of the latest handsets on your five-month old Googlephone. Pretty neat, and what's even better is that work is already underway to improve audio and the fps rate, as well as making the code compatible with Android Froyo, it all just requires a bit more tinkering. So, hit the source link to get the download or join us after the break for a quick sample video.

Video: Medal of Honor trailer reveals upcoming beta
Posted on May 6, 2010 | No CommentsA new trailer just posted to the Medal of Honor Web site pretty much checks all the boxes on the Big Checklist of FPS Trailer requirements. Sad, dramatic music; military man talking to his wife on the phone in a reassuring manner "I love you, we're OK because we're trained for this sort of thing, don't forget to have the car inspected," etc.; flash, bang, explosion, fade to black. I really don't know how many of these games I can take. That's not saying it'll be a bad game—I played it, and it is, in fact, quite good&,dash;but I do believe I'm tiring of playing toy soldier.

Dolphin, the Wii and GameCube emulator, has its first post-open source release. It’s really good.
Posted on April 12, 2010 | No CommentsAround two years ago, Dolphin, the GameCube and Wii emulator for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux, went open source. Today marks the first official release since that magical day. And let me tell you something: Dolphin works really, really well. Give it a shot when you have a chance.

‘Yeah, but does it run Crysis 2?’
Posted on April 9, 2010 | No CommentsThe World's video game press gathered in New York on Tuesday for the world premiere of Crysis 2, the sequel to the game whose memory lives in on the question, "Yeah, but does it run Crysis?" It's no coincidence that Crtyek, the game's developers, and EA, the game's publisher, chose New York to show off the game, with Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli calling the city "symbolic of the pride of mankind." Clearly he hasn't been to the more rubbish sections of Queens. Yes, you're in an altogether different type of jungle this go-round.

XScorch 360 controller brings a mouse to the Xbox
Posted on March 22, 2010 | No Comments
Like many FPS gamers of a certain age, I started with the WASD keyboard/mouse control system. As such, I have issues with using a controller to play games on a console, and really wish that someone would come out with a keyboard and mouse control system. There's been a few that come close, and the Scorch 360 looks like another also-ran.
Like many Japanese institutions of higher education, the

We're not entirely sure this thing exists in real life. The G-mate Gun Overlord just seems a bit too glorious. Even the video after the jump isn't enough proof. If it is real though, watch out, it could be awesome. Unless of course it's not and actually really lame.
