Quelle horreur! The 16GB iPad will cost 499 Euro in France?

Some weird leaks over in Franceland point to the 16GB iPad costing 499 Euro (approximately $655, depending on how low the Euro can dip). These listings appeared on Fnac's RSS feed which means they may have been entered inadvertently and/or incorrectly. No word on official availability or pricing but, as we recall, Apple postponed the international launch until the end of May

Video: Apple’s “12 Apps Of Christmas” iPhone commercial

Apple just pushed out a new, Holiday-themed commercial. Playing on the classic “12 Days of Christmas” song, they rattle off a different type of application for each of 12 days. They make no mention of baby shaking applications, which isn’t too surprising – “baby shaking” has way too many syllables to fit the tune. Crunch Network: [...]

Real world shots of the xpPhone trickle out, video coming “soon”

Outside of hardware renders and a few prototype appearances at trade shows, there aren't a whole lot of photos of the nearly mythical xpPhone -- the phone that runs Windows XP or, according to the manufacturer, Windows 7 -- floating around. In fact, after hearing next to nothing beyond talks of pre-orders in almost six months, I'd begun to wonder if this thing actually existed. Today, the manufacturer ITG released real world shots of their latest product sample, color-customized in white/green. They also add that "More videos of real sample will come out soon", which might just mean this thing is gettin' close to production. One more shot after the jump.

How do you like that, DVRs didn’t kill the television business after all

Here's a story I first heard on Figure 4 Daily last night while farming for mageweave (no, I'm not lying): not only have DVRs not ruined the TV businesses, as we had been led to believe for so many years, but it turns out that the delayed viewings, and more accurate ratings, have given the networks exactly what they've always wanted. That, of course, is the opportunity to squeeze more money out of their advertisers.

Yikes: Hulu flirts with, yes, having you pay to watch it.

Hey, remember Hulu.com? It was a Web site that sort of came out of nowhere, and offered streaming TV shows from NBC and other networks. It was ad-supported, and free. People liked it. And then, one day, in October, 2009, a completely bonkers TV executive all but killed it with one sentence: “It’s time to start getting paid for broadcast content online.”
