US Cellular adds HTC Desire and BlackBerry Bold in August, teases BlackBerry 9670 for ‘later this year’
Posted on June 25, 2010 | No Comments
We were extremely close to cramping our sarcasm muscle with all the faux excitement we had to drum up for the 3.2-inch Acclaim, but US Cellular has now come back with word that it'll soon count HTC's Desire among its roster of phones. The Desire, which is mooted to be coming to other smaller carriers like Cellular South, will debut in August alongside the BlackBerry Bold. We're more excited, however, to find US Cellular promising it'll offer "a BlackBerry flip smartphone with a full QWERTY keyboard" later this year. That sounds like RIM's slightly unorthodox 9670 to us, and will probably form the second part of the BB maker's pledged introduction of two new handsets. US Cellular's 2010 device lineup refresh will be completed with a pair more Androids, courtesy of LG and Samsung. The former is said to have a "large touch screen and slide-out, ergonomically-designed QWERTY keyboard," while the latter is only described as "highly-anticipated." Not too shabby.US Cellular adds HTC Desire and BlackBerry Bold in August, teases BlackBerry 9670 for 'later this year' originally appeared on Engadget on Fri, 25 Jun 2010 05:41:00 EST. Nokia E73 comes to T-Mobile
Posted on June 3, 2010 | No CommentsI love the Nokia E-series. It’s like a Blackberry for folks who might not want a Blackberry and they’re very durable and useful. Symbian? Eh. Not so much, but Nokia makes a good phone. Anyway, the E73 Mode smartphone is out on T-Mobile. No pricing but it will run on T-Mo’s 3G network and it should [...] -
AT&T’s second Android Handset, HTC Aria, launching in June
Posted on May 26, 2010 | No Comments
While AT&T are still happy to be rolling in the money brought in from the iPhone exclusivity agreement, they aren't stupid enough to ignore the other mobile platform completely.
AT&T have previously announced that there will be 5 Android handsets launching in 2010, and we now have word that the first of these 5 (the second in their history) will be the HTC Aria.

Samsung pulls a Google and gives devs free Bada phones, confirms upcoming handsets
Posted on May 24, 2010 | No CommentsGoogle didn’t invent giving stuff away. Oprah did that. Google just made — or at least greatly popularized — the trend of companies giving their latest and greatest handsets to all the attendees of the developer events in hopes of spiking their interest. The latest company to pull a Google: Samsung. At a Developer Day in [...] -
BlackBerry 9670 caught trying to justify its existence on video
Posted on May 10, 2010 | No CommentsLook, we'll admit that we may have gone a little hard on the BlackBerry 9670 the first time we saw it -- but seriously, could you blame us? Thanks to the 8200 series, RIM's developed a reputation for making gargantuan clamshells, and the 9670 certainly doesn't seem to buck that trend -- in fact, it's very likely even wider on account of its full QWERTY keyboard, and you can tell from this new video that it doesn't make any apologies about its thick waistline, either. That being said, the phone seems to look just a smidge sexier now than it did before, though it's still not necessarily clear why you'd pick it over a 9650 or 9700 when it's essentially the same size folded. Guess we'll know when -- or if, rather -- RIM launches this thing. Follow the break for video.Continue reading BlackBerry 9670 caught trying to justify its existence on video

U.S. Cellular to get exclusive Android-powered Samsung Acclaim
Posted on May 10, 2010 | No CommentsHot on the heels of the full-QWERTY LG Ally, U.S. Cellular today posted on their Facebook wall the news that they will be launching their own full-QWERTY Android device in July: the Samsung Acclaim. The device will run Android 2.1, have a 3.2″ 480×320 screen, and the previously mentioned full QWERTY keyboard, which will put it [...] -
Hands-on with the T-Mobile MyTouch 3G Slide
Posted on May 3, 2010 | No Comments
In a perfect world, every phone would be like the T-Mobile MyTouch Slide. It's small, it's light, it has a keyboard, and it's easy enough for almost everyone to use even if it's running one of the most powerful mobile OSes out there. Built by HTC to T-Mobile's specifications, the MyTouch Slide with full QWERTY keyboard is, in actuallity, one of the best feature phones I've seen in a long time.

Boost Mobile gussies up their selection with the Sanyo Juno
Posted on April 27, 2010 | No CommentsFor a long time, if you wanted to take advantage of Boost Mobile’s $50 Monthly Unlimited plan, you had to put up with a few disadvantages. The biggest, of course, was the fact that you were stuck using their sketchy iDEN network. Not only that, you had to do it with a handset that was [...]
