If Nintendo ‘won’ E3 then where does that leave Apple?
Posted on June 22, 2010 | No CommentsThere were two big pieces of news at E3 last week: the ceaseless march toward 3D gaming and the unrelenting encroachment of motion control upon our lives. I honestly couldn't give a toss about 3D gaming because if I wanted 3D entertainment I'd talk to a human being. Same thing with motion control: it doesn't bother me because I want nothing to do with it (outside of dancing the Macarena when asked to “freestyle”). It'd be like getting angry because it's hot on Venus: what? Exactly. One thing I did notice: what happened to all of that hubbub about “Apple being the new Nintendo”?

Posted on June 15, 2010 | No Comments
Gamers listen up. You know that 40-inch LCD you’re proud to show your friends when playing FIFA 11, the one that cost $1100. Wouldn’t it be nice to have a much bigger screen for that same price? Have you forgotten about projectors?

It’s real: iPad Arcade…well at least its not fake
Posted on June 9, 2010 | No Comments
When Think Geek posted this image on April Fools Day, it was apparent that it wasn’t real. While a disappointment to some gamers, it also became an inspiration for one Hideyoshi Moriya.

Disembodied voice asks: Who will be the ultimate gamer (on season 2 of ‘WCG Ultimate Gamer’)?
Posted on May 17, 2010 | No CommentsThe most shocking thing about the news that there will be a second season of "WCG Ultimate Gamer" on SyFy is that there was ever a first season. Could have fooled me. But alas, it has been picked up for another year. This calls for a celebration of some sort. Wee!

The Astro A30 headset is for the rich or insane
Posted on March 16, 2010 | 1 Comment
How much are you willing to spend on a so-called portable gaming headset? $50? $100? How about $150? Anyone? What if I told you that it would also work with your computer as well as your iPhone, PSP, and Xbox Live account? Still no one? Yeah, that's what I thought.

Here's some retro gaming goodness, GameStop has all but confirmed the White Classic Controller Pro for the Wii, with a ship date of April 1st. Man alive, the World of Warcraft economy is quite elastic!
Posted on February 22, 2010 | No CommentsThere are people out there who take to World of Warcraft's Auction House like NYU Stern graduates take to Wall Street. The Auction House, for those unawares, is a place where WoW gamers can buy and sell in-game items using in-game currency. It can be incredibly complicated, and there are entire guides dedicated to "playing" the Auction House in order to make money. I've made a fair bit of coin by merely buying items at one, low price, then re-listing them on the Auction House for a new, higher price.

Posted on January 6, 2010 | No Comments
Gamers who've always wanted to own a PSP in pink, here's your chance: Sony Computer Entertainment Japan today announced [JP] exactly that, a limited edition of their handheld system in so-called blossom pink. Needless to say that technically, this pink PSP 3000 isn't different from a standard model.
Attention to detail is a character quality that most people live without. Even most companies lack it. However, there are some times when you see a new product that just takes detail to the next level. If you can appreciate such craft, then check out this mouse pad.
Using “the industry’s most advanced anti-ghosting technology,” Microsoft’s upcoming SideWinder X4 gaming keyboard “takes anti-ghosting to the next level by allowing gamers to press up to 26 keys at once.” And all for around $60!
Researchers at Canada's Queen's University have been working on the most seemingly harmless of technologies, board games. They are taking a little different approach from the
