  • Google setting up music store later this year, looking for search and Android synergy

Google setting up music store later this year, looking for search and Android synergy

Remember that chart that pointed out the differences between Google, Apple and Microsoft? Well, it's looking increasingly like Google is intent on filling any and all gaps in its portfolio. Those good old unnamed sources have been talking, originally to CNET last week and to the Wall Street Journal today, and disclosing Google's supposed intent to introduce its very own music store. This would initially encompass a web store where you can stream or download tracks, with a search tie-in that'll get your money into Google's pocket in the fastest possible way. Subsequent plans are said to include Android integration in 2011 -- something that Google rather nonchalantly demoed at its I/O conference last month. Of course, none of this is as yet confirmed, but it looks like Apple and Google will be competing across yet another front -- hold on tight.

  • More Droid 2, Droid X details surface in leaked commercials

More Droid 2, Droid X details surface in leaked commercials

We've already gotten a pretty good look at both the Droid 2 and Droid X and some of their purported specs, and it looks like we can now fill in a few more gaps thanks to a set of leaked slides for some new Droid commercials. The most interesting of the lot is the slide / script for a Droid 2 commercial pictured above, which not only confirms an expectedly sci-fi-themed ad for the phone (Gattaca-esque, to be specific), but Exchange support and a 1GHz processor (not 750MHz, as previously rumored). There's comparatively fewer details in the pair of Droid X commercials, but they do offer yet more confirmation of a 4.3-inch screen, and our first indication of a new EyeCon app that will apparently come pre-loaded on the phone and let you access and control media on your home network -- the script for the ad actually mentions a "720 dpi" screen, but we're going to chalk that up to adspeak rather than Motospeak. Hit up the link below for a closer look at the complete set.

    [Thanks, Kellen]

iPhone 4 guide: preview, pricing, availability

digg_url = 'http://digg.com/apple/iPhone_4_The_Complete_Guide'; In a lot of ways, Apple's iPhone 4 announcement was short on surprises. We've been playing with the new iPhone OS 4 (now dubbed iOS 4) for a while, and photos of the hardware had been widely disseminated, a rarity for an unreleased Apple product. Still, Apple managed to fill in the gaps and build up the hype, and there's plenty to know about this handset that extends beyond what you can glean from bricked hardware of dubious provenance. Follow along with us as we break it all down, including detailed impressions from our hands-on time with the device.

The Missing Sync for Android now available

Just about each and every time we review an Android phone, one of the first questions that shows up in the comments is, “So – how is it at syncing?” The answer to that is a bit complex. If you’re just looking to sync with Google services (like Gmail, Google Calendar, etc.), it’s great. Anything [...]

  • MacBook Pro All-Day Battery Life: Eight Hours

MacBook Pro All-Day Battery Life: Eight Hours

It’s funny. When Apple announced it’s new sealed-battery MacBook Pros last week, almost nobody complained. Remember the fuss about the iPhone’s non-removable battery? Or the MacBook Air? Or the 17” MacBook Pro? It seems like people have finally realized most users hardly ever have to swap out a battery, and if you need some extra [...]
