Thanko’s Micro Sport MP3 Player weighs just 8g (video)
Posted on January 20, 2010 | No Comments
Thanko, the Tokyo-based maker of all things USB, sometimes produces gadgets that aren't silly. Today, the company announced the Micro Sport MP3 Player [JP] that's supposed to be especially suitable for people who want to listen to music while doing sports. The only drawback is that the thing doesn't look to be designed for this purpose at all (but maybe that's just me). Integrating one earbud into the main unit might lead to problems.

Video highlights from CrunchGear’s CES 2010 booth
Posted on January 11, 2010 | No Comments
CrunchGear had its own booth at a CES event this year and of course we streamed all the interviews live. East Coasters may have missed out due to the late schedule though. So here they are for a second time. Daniel Brusilovsky started out the panel with a demo of mSpot video streaming Android app.
But we go on to take a look Sticker, Shapeways, a Geek Not Needed router, the L5 iPhone remote, v.Clone Iomega software, Blue Microphones, Mad Catz Cyborg R.A.T. mouse, LowJack computer software, an HP CTO, PocketCPR, Pogoplug and finish up two hours of interviewing with a look at the Gunman iPhone game.
Forgive all the shuffling. We did this via Livestream, after all. Click through for all the interviews and general CrunchGear hijinks.

Windows CE-powered mini projector
Posted on November 30, 2009 | No Comments
A pico projector with Windows CE OS 5.0 on board? Yes, there are devices like that. Japan-based Lancerlink announced [JP] one of these today, the MPJ-104WCE. What you get is basically an LCOS (3M) projector with a mini computer built into it (the Windows CE is an English version).
The projector produces 10-30 inch pictures with 640x480 resolution and 10 lumens brightness. There are also two 0.5W speakers built into the body. But sized at just 138.5x58.5x25mm, the device also sports a Samsung ARM 9 processor at 400MHz, 64MB of internal memory (up to 4GB with an SD card), a USB port, an SD card interface and native support for MS Powerpoint, Excel and Word files.

Cute speaker with built-in MP3 player in retro-design
Posted on November 2, 2009 | No Comments
Japan-based design and gadget company fu-bi has announced the so-called "Retro Cube Mini Speaker With MP3 Player" [JP] today, and as the name of the device suggests, it's a one-unit speaker (3W×2ch) with a built-in MP3 player. You can connect it to your iPod or PC via USB 2.0 and listen to three hours of music after charging the internal battery for about an hour.

Japan sure has a thing for weird piggy banks, as we blogged
