Video: Meet Myon, Germany’s latest humanoid robot
Posted on June 22, 2010 | No Comments
Germany has churned out the one or the other humanoid in recent months, but Myon might actually be the coolest deutsche robot out there. The little guy stands 125cm tall and weighs 15kg. He was designed by Cologne-based design studio frackenpohl poulheim [GER] and developed at Berlin's Humboldt University as part of the European ALEAR (Artificial Language Evolution on Autonomous Robots) research project.

iPhone 4 hits T-Mobile Germany in June, three Canadian carriers in July
Posted on June 7, 2010 | No CommentsHot on the heels of a three-way UK celebration, Deutche Telekom's reportedly managed to continue its coup -- if the company's Twitter account is to be believed, German exclusivity of the iPhone 4 will go to T-Mobile this June. Meanwhile, the English (and French) speaking world is still rolling out iPhone launch dates, as Canada's Rogers, Telus and Bell Mobility have all quietly announced the new superphone will be available "in the coming weeks" or "coming soon." Americans at Engadget HQ are supremely jealous of your choices, Canada... and rest assured that we feel Germany's pain, too.iPhone 4 hits T-Mobile Germany in June, three Canadian carriers in July originally appeared on Engadget on Mon, 07 Jun 2010 22:24:00 EST. PSA Part 2: Samsung Wave now said to be virus free
Posted on June 3, 2010 | No CommentsYesterday morning, we wrote a quick blurp letting you guys know to be wary of the just-launched Samsung Wave, given that it purportedly shipped with a nasty little auto-executing virus. For all those keeping up with this little mini-debacle (and for those about to ride the Wave themselves), we’ve got good news: according to Samsung, it’s [...] -

O2 UK will get Palm Pre Plus and Pixi Plus on May 28, skin you alive with pricing
Posted on May 19, 2010 | No CommentsYou didn't think Germany was gonna have all the Palm fun, did you? The UK is keeping pace with its longtime nemesis by matching the May 28 launch date for the Pre and Pixi Plus on O2, and has even supplied us with a handy reference sheet containing all price plans available for the handsets. You'll find it after the break, but sadly it'll only be of interest to true WebOS enthusiasts. There's nothing south of £25 ($36) per month available, and if you want a reasonable call allowance, you'll have to get on into the £30 and above bracket. All contracts do at least come with unlimited texts and data, but overall the cost seems too steep to entice us, what with all the Desires and Bolds floating around at better price points.
[Thanks, Chris W.]Continue reading O2 UK will get Palm Pre Plus and Pixi Plus on May 28, skin you alive with pricing

Video: Meet LOLA, Germany’s newest (and very tall) fembot
Posted on May 6, 2010 | No Comments
Remember AILA, the "female" humanoid we've blogged about two weeks ago? It turns out that wasn't the only fembot that has been in development in Germany in the last few years, as LOLA [GER], a humanoid presented by the Technical University of Munich and the Institute of Technology Autonomous Systems in Munich, shows.
