Samsung Galaxy Tab P1000 caught on video looking like a giant cellphone
Posted on June 16, 2010 | No CommentsReady to see Samsung's 7-inch Tab tablet do its thing on video? Sure you are. However, this isn't the same Galaxy Tab that we saw in the picture teased by Samsung. First of all, it has a different collection of Android-friendly "buttons" along the bottom and seems to be void of Samsung's TouchWiz UI skin. It's also carrying a P1000 model number. Well, at least the 7-inch Super AMOLED remains the same. See the quick action go by in a blur after the break.
P.S. The dialer pictured above seems to confirm that the Tab can be used like a giant phone. No, really. We've heard this previously as rumor but didn't believe it until now. The second video perfectly illustrates the reason for our concern. [Thanks, Saad]Continue reading Samsung Galaxy Tab P1000 caught on video looking like a giant cellphone

Video: What just smashed into Jupiter?
Posted on June 4, 2010 | No CommentsAwesome video is awesome? Yes, yes it is. Something smashed into Jupiter a few hours ago, and an amateur astronomer caught the event on video. A similar event happened almost a year ago to the day. Now, does this mean that THE MAYANS WERE RIGHT or some other nonsense? No, of course not. What it does [...] -
Samsung Galaxy S launches in Europe, hitting US ‘later this year’
Posted on June 3, 2010 | No CommentsSo that simultaneous global launch isn't going to materialize quite as we were told, but Samsung is indeed bringing the Galaxy S to the widest possible audience. The Korean giant has made its 2010 flagship official in Europe today, meaning you should be able to sign your life away to your favorite carrier in exchange for it very soon indeed. We're told the 4-incher will be making its American debut later in the year, though a protracted delay appears unlikely. Pricing on the Galaxy S might not turn out to be all that democratic, but its comprehensive choice of more than 100 global carriers sure will be, and might suggest we'll get a choice of networks when the phone finally makes its way Stateside. Hang tight, gringos, not long to go now.Continue reading Samsung Galaxy S launches in Europe, hitting US 'later this year'

An iPhone Lover’s Take On The HTC EVO 4G
Posted on May 30, 2010 | No Comments
Back in January, I wrote a post entitled An iPhone Lover's Take On The Nexus One. At the time, the Nexus One was soon to be released as the latest and greatest Android phone, and a number of iPhone users were wondering whether it was worth it to switch for the benefits of Android (and perhaps more importantly, another network besides AT&T). My take: it was the best Android phone yet, but it wasn't better than the iPhone. Now I'm going to do the same type of review for the new HTC EVO 4G phone, which Sprint is launching next week.
At Google I/O, the search giant gave the phone away to every attendee complete with one month of service to try it out. Just as with the Nexus One, I've decided to use it as my primary phone for the past week or so to get a real sense of the pluses and minuses of the device. Just as with my Nexus One review, this isn't meant to be an all-encompassing review or roundup (for that, see here or here or here). Instead, this is just my reaction to the device as an iPhone user.

Google dishes out giant Froyo parfait (video)
Posted on May 14, 2010 | No CommentsGoogle takes Android product codenames literally -- that's why you'll find a giant Eclair, Donut and Cupcake chiling on the GooglePlex lawn. This week, they were joined by the object tastefully pictured above. Frozen yogurt, anyone? You might not care to eat this one, as it's probably made of foam, but Engadget will likely bring you a spoonful next week when we attend Google I/O. Video after the break.
Update: And just like that the video has been set to private. Not like video of a stationary object really adds much value anyway. Nevertheless, it already arrived at the GooglePlex where it's already hanging out -- under wraps -- with its foam siblings.Continue reading Google dishes out giant Froyo parfait (video)

Video: Chunky BlackBerry 9670 flip phone
Posted on May 11, 2010 | No Comments
While it may not be the best lookin' BlackBerry I've seen, I'm sure there are at least a few of you out there that get a kick out of the blend of classic mid-naughties BlackBerry stylin' and retro non-touch clamshell form factor.
C'mon, there's a few of you, isn't there?
Well, in the hopes that there is, I've gone and found a video of this most unholy union.

Japan’s giant Gundam statue returns, this time armed with a saber
Posted on March 22, 2010 | No Comments
The giant Gundam statue that protected Tokyo last summer was so cool that we covered it multiple times. In September 2009, Bandai (the company responsible for the marketing coup) decided to retire Gundam once and for all.
But five months later, in December 2009, the city of Shizuoka (some 125 miles west of Tokyo) announced it plans to re-erect the statue in July this year. And now it has come to light that it will really happen [JP] (on the 24th of July, Gundam’s 30th birthday, to be more exact). Shizuoka is the city where most of the Gundam plastic models come from.

Video: EA Sports MMA trailer (but where’s Fedor?)
Posted on March 17, 2010 | No CommentsMan, two new trailers in the same day. Our cup runneth over, and so forth! Anyhow, here’s the newest trailer of EA Sports MMA, which should hit stores “late 2010.” That’s all in-game footage, too, so no smoke and mirrors nonsense. Featured prominently are Bobby Lashely, Brett Rogers, King Mo, and Nick Diaz (!). Where’s Fedor? [...] -
Streetfighter IV on the iPhone gets video, price and release date
Posted on February 23, 2010 | No Comments
I myself am in the "This will never work"-camp, but Japanese video game giant Capcom is preparing a special version of their hit title "Streetfighter IV" for the iPhone/iPod touch. The announcement was made last week, making the iPhone version the first on a mobile device (the arcade game has been ported to the PS3 and XBox 360 only so far).
And today, Gamepro was able to lay their hands on Streetfighter IV (see their video below), revealing the final version will feature a total of eight characters: Ryu, Ken, Guile, Blanka, Chun-Li, Dhalsim, M. Bison and Abel (the console games have 17 playable characters).

Spider-Man 4 gets a director: Marc Webb, from (500) Days of Summer
Posted on January 20, 2010 | No CommentsIt's time for your Hollywood Minute! Late last night it emerged that Marc Webb, the director of (500) Days of Summer, which I think is a romantic comedy/drama judging by the trailer (I do have the rip sitting on one of my hard drives, lest you think we don't practice what we preach), will direct Spider-Man 4. The movie is currently scheduled to be released in the summer of 2012, and may well be filmed in 3D.

Edifier Luna5 Speakers: Giant and bulbous
Posted on January 5, 2010 | No CommentsSpeakers galore tonight. The Luna5 iPod dock sounds pretty good but looks great. That big weird thing on top is the speaker itself and it blasts out quite a bit of noise when you need it to. More pics after the jump. -
LG Lotus Elite’s appearance on a billboard suggests it’s probably real
Posted on January 4, 2010 | No CommentsIn case there was any sliver of doubt that the so-called LX610 Lotus Elite from LG was a real device ready to fill the original Lotus' unusually wide shoes on Sprint, feast your eyes on this: a giant billboard covering the side of a Las Vegas hotel pimping the Chocolate Touch, the eXpo, and -- yes, that's right -- the Lotus Elite. To be fair, there's no name mentioned here, but we've got a feeling it's right considering the rest of the intel has ended up panning out. Stay tuned.

Good news for Mac and PC gamers, Steam is making Portal free! Admittedly it's for a limited time, but it'll give you the chance to try one of the most popular titles that Valve has ever come out with. And this deal is not a lie.
