Steve Jobs: iPhone OS ’started on a tablet’
Posted on June 1, 2010 | No Commentsdigg_url = 'http://digg.com/gadgets/Steve_Jobs_at_D_iPhone_OS_started_on_a_tablet_Engadget'; Well, Steve Jobs just dropped a little nugget of history on us during his chat with Walt Mossberg and Kara Swisher at the All Things D conference. When asked by Walt why they originally put their new OS on a phone and not a tablet, Steve said, "I'll tell you a secret. It began with the tablet." After working on the tablet OS which had a glass display and multitouch, another idea occurred to Jobs. "My God, I said, this would make a great phone ... so we shelved the tablet and built the iPhone." And there you have it.Steve Jobs: iPhone OS 'started on a tablet' originally appeared on Engadget on Tue, 01 Jun 2010 22:06:00 EST. Please see our terms for use of feeds.

Don’t let taste stand in the way of buying a crystal iPhone stand
Posted on May 17, 2010 | No Comments
Are you the kind of person who has to have the best of everything? Two-ply toilet paper? Nice plastic plates? The best mixture of Alpo and brown gravy spread liberally onto your chest as a libido suppressant? Then you're going to need the Calypso Crystal iPhone stands.
These stands, which range from $199 to $349 for the Aurora model, are made of leaded crystal and take "15 days to make" in Central Europe. The sad thing is that these are actually probably made in Poland where leaded crystal is actually quite popular (my mom collects it, incidentally, but I doubt she wants these.)

All are running the latest processors and the dm4 and dv7 support discrete graphics. The dv6 is a touchscreen laptop, which is great for people who like to touch their screens. Not [...] -
These handmade wooden computer peripherals are the closest thing to heaven on earth
Posted on April 26, 2010 | No Comments
There is something warm about these handmade external computer drives. They are almost like how God would have created computers. The real charm is that they are made exclusively by two dudes out of Seattle who obviously enjoy woodworking as much as I do.

Nuance’s Dragon Dictation for E-Mail now available for BlackBerry
Posted on April 21, 2010 | No CommentsTyping is hard. I hardly ever type unless I have to. In fact, roughly 80% of MobileCrunch’s operating bills go towards paying a full staff of invisible underlings to write what I say and censor my vulgarity. Unfortunately for the livelihood of the aforementioned underlings, they’re now replaceable by a BlackBerry. Following up on the launch of [...] -
Messi: You know you’re good when people compare you to a PlayStation!
Posted on April 7, 2010 | No CommentsHow do you know when you're a great athlete? Oh, I don't know, maybe when the top-tier manager of the opposing team calls you a PlayStation! Like, you're so good it's almost as if someone goes into Konami's Pro Evolution Soccer or EA Sports' FIFA, creates a player, than gives said player 12 out of 10 in all the key stats: speed, attack, technical skill, etc. Leo Messi is like a PlayStation.

The Saints will win The Super Bowl, says Madden NFL 10
Posted on February 3, 2010 | No CommentsFlickr’d Short and to the point: EA Sports’ Madden NFL 10 has predicted that the New Orleans Saints will beat the Indianapolis Colts 35-31 in Super Bowl XLIV. Go ahead and dance in the streets. Also, what in God’s name does “Who Dat?” mean? -
Churches (and others) will have to upgrade their mics right quick or the FCC will be very angry
Posted on January 22, 2010 | No CommentsThe absurdity of this issue, I swear. Get this: churches (and other deals like outdoor events) have been using microphones that operate on the 700MHz spectrum since, like, forever. It turns out that that part of the spectrum, 700MHz, is to be set aside for over-the-air digital TV broadcasts. You see where this is going: churches all over the country are going to have to upgrade their microphones, sound systems, etc. lest they run afoul of the law come June, 2010. You'd think God would have warned them about this.

For the record, I'm writing these words on a MacBook Pro; the third Mac I've owned in the past twelve months. As I do so, I'm listening to music on iTunes through my standard issue iPod headphones, so as not to disturb my neighbours. Less than a foot from where I'm sitting, my iPhone sits charging. I am - as marketers might have it put - "a Mac".
And yet - my God - I'm bored of reading about Apple and their 'long awaited' tablet.
