Is this the Samsung Acclaim for US Cellular? (update: we’re pretty sure it is)
Posted on May 13, 2010 | No CommentsSo regional carrier US Cellular dropped the bomb this week that it had scored an exclusive on a fresh Android handset from Samsung coined the R880 Acclaim, but unfortunately, it failed to actually show us the thing. We've just gotten a tip alleging that the handset you're looking at here is the Acclaim, and we'd say there's a good chance it's real -- we know it's got a QWERTY keyboard, for instance, paired to a 3.2-inch HVGA display. Unfortunately, prospective buyers are waiting until July for a release, but tell us: does this shot give you hope that the phone's going to rock, or does it break your spirit into a million jaded pieces?
[Thanks, anonymous tipster]
Update: Alright, we've gotten more evidence that leads us to believe that this is almost certainly the Acclaim. Our doubt meter is hovering near zero on this one.Is this the Samsung Acclaim for US Cellular? Ballmer hints that new Xbox styles may be coming
Posted on March 5, 2010 | No Comments
And lo, from the Ballmer came the words, and the words were about the Xbox, and they did ponder the words as to what they meant. And then the idle speculation started, and people started posting stuff on the internet, and it just got silly. But judging from (and speculating from) some comments that Ballmer said at a recent UW speech, there's a pretty good chance that there may be some new kinds of Xboxen coming to your television.

The ISS gets its own HD video tour
Posted on February 8, 2010 | No CommentsSit back, relax, and enjoy this extensive HD video tour of International Space Station. You better enjoy the ISS while you can. There’s a good chance it’s going to crash into Planet Earth within the next couple of years because of budget issues unless the ESA can save it. -
Will Next Week’s Apple Event Finally Bring Background Apps To The iPhone?
Posted on January 19, 2010 | No Comments
This morning, after many months of rampant speculation over the enigmatic Tablet, Apple officially invited scores of press to a special media event to be held January 27. The debut of the Tablet seems all but a given according to most reports, but there are some secondary announcements that also stand to be huge — especially the rumors that we may also see the launch of iPhone 4.0. This afternoon, Fox News "confirmed" that we'd being seeing the latest iteration of Apple's hugely popular mobile OS for the first time. Should that be the case, there's also a good chance we'll see launch of a very important new feature: background applications.
First things first. While the title of the Fox News article is "Apple Tablet, iPhone 4 Launch Confirmed for January 27", the body of the article later says that it's "likely" that Apple will unveil those two products (along with an updated iLife suite), and also notes that Apple is known for suddenly removing features or products from their announcements at the last second — none of which makes the news sound totally concrete. That said, there are plenty of reasons why iPhone 4.0 could be making an appearance alongside the Tablet, and why it will bring background apps with it.

Apple to release a crap-ton of new products today?
Posted on October 20, 2009 | No Comments
Today could be a big Apple day. John Gruber and Dan Lyons both think that we might just see a plethora of new Apple products today. Exciting, I know. These new models would include new iMacs, plastic Macbooks, Mac Minis, 2nd generation Mighty Mouse that isn't called a Mighty Mouse, and some sort of multitouch desktop gadget thingy. Yeah, all that is suppose to come out today even though Apple doesnt' have a press conference on the books and Steve Jobs knows I don't really want to work that hard today. Yeah, we talk.
