    Analysts believe iPhone will become non-AT&T exclusive in a year

    Oh, Gene Munster. You keep popping up like the loose Cheerios my nine-month-old daughter drops at breakfast. What are you up to this time, you little scamp? Munster of Piper Jaffray "predicts" that AT&T will lose its iPhone exclusivity by the end of 2010, thereby rendering the company impotent and insolvent. Some contenders for the iPhone throne include Verizon. This ignores the fact that AT&T is fighting like a champ to keep the iPhone until 2011 but it seems the popular perception of AT&T as a pile of fail may put a damper on Apple's wish to stay put.

    Rumor: Apple tablet to run full OS X 10.5? Three screen sizes, too?

    tabletAnd here we have yet another Apple tablet rumor to be bandied about all the livelong day. According to Gizmodo, "a source that has always been 100% reliable" says that Apple may be working on 13- and 15-inch tablets (aside from just the rumored 10-inch one) and that one of those tablets was seen running a full-fledged version of OS X 10.5.

    World ranking: New Yorkers pay lowest cell phone charges

    I'm aware studies comparing cell phone charges generally have to be taken with a grain of salt (especially cross-country studies like the following one), but this one coming from the Japanese Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications is pretty interesting. It's not really a "world" ranking, but the ministry compared [JP, PDF] cell phone charges in seven major cities in Europe, Asia and the US. The result in a nutshell: New Yorkers are pretty lucky, Parisians aren't.

    It’s official (kind of): People prefer the Kindle

    The Catalyst Group, who ran a fairly unscientific study of Google v. Bing preferences, have run another fairly unscientific study of Kindle v. Sony Reader user preferences. The results? The Kindle won on all fronts, beating Sony's aged ereader handily. The Group asked 12 interviewees, six men and six women, what they thought of both devices. They were asked about physical controls, the general "feel," UI, resolution, and shopping experience. Eight respondents preferred the Kindle overall, three preferred the Sony, and one apparently fell asleep and pretended to like both when he or she woke up because there was one tie.
