New Sandisk WORM cards write once, read for 100 years
Posted on June 23, 2010 | No Comments
Sandisk has created a new line of write once, read many SD cards, mainly intended for law enforcement. I suppose you could use one for taking pictures of grandma, but I don't really see the point for personal use. Well, maybe for weddings and graduations and such, but part of the attraction of digital cameras is that you can erase pictures without worrying about it.

New Android app helps you if you’ve fallen and can’t get up
Posted on April 27, 2010 | No CommentsAndroid phones save lives. Or they could, if they had this application installed. Let’s say grandma is walking around the house with her Droid in the pocket of her house coat, and she falls down. Luckily, you installed the iFall application. It uses the accelerometer in her phone to tell you that she fell down, [...] -

Review: Plextor 128GB SSD
Posted on March 17, 2010 | No CommentsAll the cool kids are playing SSDs these days. So much so that every manufacturer wants of piece of the sweet cherry pie. Even Plextor who was previously known as an optical drive/media company has a set of 64GB and 128GB SSDs available now. Too bad these options tastes more like a supermart-made pie than [...] -
Go Computer: Help the aged
Posted on February 22, 2010 | No CommentsAs my sainted old father always says “It’s a stinking world because there’s no law and order anymore! It’s a stinking world because it lets the young get on to the old, like you done. Oh, it’s no world for an old man any longer. What sort of a world is it at all? Men [...] -
MagicJack CEO: netTalk is garbage! netTALK: No we aren’t!
Posted on January 26, 2010 | No CommentsI love CEO spats. A few days ago the MagicJack CEO, Dan Borislow (Shown above at his party at CES. Seriously. It was just like that.) was talking about his femtocell and was all like: I’m sure you’ve heard of netTALK, the new magicJack rival. Any opinions on the device? It’s a piece of sh*t. It has [...] -
Mysterious camcorder surfaces with DLP pico projector attachment
Posted on January 14, 2010 | No Comments
The only info we can find about this camcorder comes from the YouTube video and description, which states it's a first-of-its-kind camcorder attachment using a WVGA DLP pico chipset. We can't make out the manufacturer and really anything else about the concept. But one thing is clear. We love it. Click through for the video demo.

Oh boy, here’s the perfect digital photo frame for grandma, grandpa, or anyone else who’s deathly afraid of technology. Aside from the $200 price tag, it’s actually not a bad idea. It’s a digital photo frame with an integrated 4x6 photo scanner.

Analysts: Blah blah Internet TV boxes are blah blah a dead end
Posted on December 10, 2009 | No CommentsStandalone set-top boxes like the Boxee Box and the Roku Player are good because they add Internet content to heretofore unconnected TVs. That’s a good thing. However, analysts at the Diffusion Group believe that the devices will eventually peter out to be replaced by Blu-Ray devices. I don’t quite understand their thinking here. Perhaps they think [...] -
Santa-Pain Brings The Cheer, Adds Holiday Tunes to I Am T-Pain
Posted on December 3, 2009 | No CommentsConsidering that it’s still one of the App Store’s top grossing apps of all time, I Am T-Pain is pretty great. With that said, it’s not exactly something you’d want to pull out at your family Christmas party. Believe it or not, Grandma probably wont be impressed with the on-the-fly Autotuning technology be it that [...] -
A DVD that lasts 1000 years (but is it scratch resistant?)
Posted on November 13, 2009 | No CommentsNew kid on the block Cranberry claims that their new DVD will last 1,000 years. Of course no one will be around to dispute that claim, and by then we'll be using some kind of organic memory light data cell, but hey! Who knows, maybe future generations will want to see those vacation photos you took of Grandma Rhoda and Aunt Suzy.

Woot Buzz for iPhone ensures you don’t miss the next Bag Of Crap
Posted on November 2, 2009 | No CommentsIt’s probably a bit less apparent on this side of the fence than it is over at CrunchGear, but we loves us some Woot around these parts. Where else can you buy a “Bag of Crap” that you’d actually be excited to receive? Thing is, it gets a bit tough to keep up with Woot when [...]
