Call of Duty cash cow will be milked completely dry
Posted on March 3, 2010 | No CommentsLet's go back to the year 2005. That autumn, RedOctane released a game called Guitar Hero. It was pretty successful, so it spawned a sequel, Guitar Hero II. That came out on the fall of 2006. One year later, Rock Band first popped up. Then, in the span of around two years, video game publishers lost their minds, and published approximaely 800 music rhythm games. Now you have a situation where not even The Beatles can make Rock Band big again. The lesson: don't saturate the market with same-y games too suddenly. With that in mind, laugh: Activision has created a “dedicated [Call of Duty] business unit that will bring together its various new brand initiatives with focused, dedicated resources around the world.” “Brand initiatives,” folks. Get ready for, like, 900 new Call of Duty games in the next few years!

Tingalin Releases Jersey Shore iPhone App Before MTV’s Official One
Posted on January 10, 2010 | No Comments
Tingalin, the makers of the world-famous Tingalin app, have outdone themselves. Their new app, based on the magic of the Jersey Shore but not directly affiliated with the MTV show in any way features a number of useful tools for the Situation-in-training.
While the upcoming "fake tan" system is not yet in place, the app does have a nickname generator, a fist pump challenge that acts like Guitar Hero for bros, as well as a list of useful pick-up lines for meeting and wooing drunk honeys.
A full video explanation follows.

Music video games, they are dying
Posted on December 19, 2009 | No Comments
The NPD Group is reporting that the sale of music games like DJ Hero, Band Hero, Oboe Hero, and Violin Concerto Band are falling with a bullet, leading analysts to expect the category to crash this year.
The report finds that the Rock Band: The Beatles sold 800,000 units, missing its 1 million forecast and that Guitar Hero 5 sold 500,000 units in its first month of sales, down from 1.4 million for GH3.

A collection of reasonably priced Xbox 360 games
Posted on November 23, 2009 | No CommentsThis is the worst time to be a gamer. Yeah, it's great that so many good games have come out recently (take your pick from New Super Mario Bros. Wii, Modern Warfare 2, Assassin's Creed II, Left 4 Dead 2, etc.), but it's pretty difficult to shell out $60+ every other day in the span of two weeks.

Altec Lansing announces Rock Band speakers
Posted on October 21, 2009 | No Comments
Why be a video game rockstar if you can't hear it? Have you always wanted to put your foot on something while you power chord-ed your way to stardom? For those of you who are using the stock speakers in your TV to play Rock Band, Guitar Hero, or Harmonica Hero, first off, shame on you.

Now the countdown begins for a possible U2 Rock Band
Posted on October 7, 2009 | No CommentsAt this rate, you and your garage band could be starring in the next Rock Band-like game! (That's actually not a bad idea. Some sort of service wherein you upload your band's songs, and a little while later out pops a file that works in Rock Band and Guitar Hero.) Famous band U2 recently told USA Today that, sure, it would love to be in a video game of its own one day. It's probably too late now, seeing as though, years from now, The Beatles: Rock Band will be viewed as the apex of these music games.

No, you can’t use the DJ Hero turntable on any other game
Posted on September 30, 2009 | No CommentsBad news, sports fans. Well, to be specific, DJ Hero fans. Anyhow, it looks like you won't be able to use the turntable controller on any other video game. Why you'd want to use the turntable when playing, say, Street Fighter IV, I don't know.
Tired of Guitar Hero, and DJ Hero, and Rock Band Hero, and Flailing Wildly Hero games for your console? Ready to try a fresh new challenge, that might actually provide some real world skills, unlike frantically mashing colored buttons? Try your hand at Ribbon Hero for Microsoft Office!
Bored? Lazy? Trendy? All of the above? You can turn a run-of-the-mill Guitar Hero or Rock Band controller into a weapon used for checking, folding, calling, raising, lowering, and more – YES! You can play online poker with a guitar controller! Finally!
