Dell Streak gets cozy with Bluetooth keyboard and mouse, suddenly looks small (video)
Posted on June 21, 2010 | No Commentsdigg_url = 'http://digg.com/gadgets/Dell_Streak_Bluetooth_keyboard_mini_mobile_workstation'; Look what we have here? The Dell Streak sure keeps bringing us more and more surprises -- unlike most Android devices that lack the Bluetooth HID profile, here it is paired up with our wireless keyboard and mouse (Apple's Wireless Keyboard and Magic Mouse, specifically) without any driver hacks. Streak Smart, who made this discovery, had the same experience as us with its iGo Stowaway keyboard and an unknown mouse -- typing was as smooth as cutting butter with a hot knife, but the mouse couldn't do much due to the lack of pointer and scrolling support. If you insist, the forthcoming Nokia N8 is confirmed to support both devices natively, but it shouldn't be long before we see a mouse hack for the green bot. Hands-on video after the break, and do also head over to the source link if you need more convincing.Dell Streak gets cozy with Bluetooth keyboard and mouse, suddenly looks small (video) originally appeared on Engadget on Mon, 21 Jun 2010 20:38:00 EST. Huawei E5830 MiFi / i-Mo gets free unlock tool, parties outside the USA
Posted on May 10, 2010 | No Comments
Nope, this isn't the MiFi that you guys are familiar with in the States; everyone else -- mainly 3 / Hutchison customers -- are given this cute-looking Huawei E5830 HSPA modem instead. If you want to join this exotic MiFi party but would rather boogie with a different carrier, then fear not, as ex-iPhone hacker Zibri's just released a free unlock tool. It's pretty easy -- just plug in your MiFi (with its preloaded SIM card inside) into a Windows machine, launch the program, type in "Success! :)" to unveil the unlock button, and you know the rest. Of course, as with all unofficial hacks there's always a risk somewhere, so proceed with caution.Huawei E5830 MiFi / i-Mo gets free unlock tool, parties outside the USA originally appeared on Engadget Mobile on Mon, 10 May 2010 11:14:00 EST. Trying to track down those Chinese hackers
Posted on February 19, 2010 | No CommentsMore news from that China hacking deal. Investigators have tracked the attacks that befell Google and other victims to two schools in China, one of which has ties to the Chinese military. Whether or not this was an officially sanctioned series of attacks, or merely a couple of comp-sci students testing out their skills, clearly nobody knows. That's the beauty of these hacks: there's not a chance in hell there's going to be a "smoking gun," giving the hosts of The Today Show a three minute segment on Chinese hacking.

More information about Moleskines than you require
Posted on October 21, 2009 | No CommentsThere are some men who pride themselves in their prowess at the gaming table or in bed and there are others who brag about being able to pick the winning horse at a racetrack. But how many men can write long, detailed posts about Moleskine notebooks, offering advice to the other Moleskine fans about how [...] -
What “on-demand” media really means and why your cable company should be scared
Posted on October 17, 2009 | No CommentsI’ve been angling to get rid of my TiVo and cable for some time now and I believe I’ve finally figured out a solution that works best for me. It involves a lots scripting, Sabnzbd, and HandbrakeCLI and I’ll tell you what I ultimately did next week once it’s stable but it seems to be [...] -
Unsurprising: TI doesn’t approve of calculator hacks
Posted on October 15, 2009 | No Comments
It wasn't too long ago that hackers were successful loading custom firmware onto Texas Instruments calculators. This hasn't been sitting well with TI, who have been sending legal threats to the plucky hackers. I'm not surprised, are you?

Man hacks USB charging port into netbook battery
Posted on July 29, 2009 | No CommentsWow, this is impressive. An enterprising young man from a faraway land (the Czech Republic!) took an ordinary battery from an MSI Wind netbook and added a USB charging port to it. He can charge his iPhone twice over and the battery still works like normal in his MSI Wind. They should add USB charging ports to all batteries!

Posted on July 20, 2009 | No CommentsCommissioner Steve Stuart of Clark County, Vancouver, wants to tax bikes in order to pay for new bikes lanes and trails. Arduino GBA touch-screen mod
Posted on July 17, 2009 | No Comments
Not a lot to say about this little hack but it's basically a Game Boy Advance attached to an Arduino device running a touchscreen. The stylus sends data back to the Arduino which connects to the GBA via a patch cable.

Now that you've taken the necessary precautions, I have to tell you some bad news: two researchers have found a way to exploit the mobile phone system in order to locate pretty much anyone they want. That means you, Carmen. All those years of hiding have been for naught. They'll be here any moment now. This is the end: they've found you.
Hey kids! Do you have a Palm Pre or Pre Plus? Do you long for a little extra oomph? Some extra glide in it stride, spring in its step, and dip in its hip? Are you aware that overclocking hacks exist, but are fearful of how difficult they are to implement? Are you still listening? Good, because I have some fantastic news!
Some of Pre Central's finest have created what they call the Super PreKernel App, which is a dead-simple way to bump the speed of your Pre or Pre Plus up to Superman speeds, or down to snail's pace, as you see fit.
This alleged snapshot of Windows Phone 7 Series running on the HTC HD2 has hit our inbox roughly a dozen times already, so I figured we'd go ahead and clear things up: No, it is not real.
It's really, really late here in Barcelona (as in 4:30 AM), so I've got to make this quick for the sake of getting any sleep tonight.
