Droid X vs. iPhone 4… hang out!
Posted on June 23, 2010 | No CommentsSo, these aren't exactly the most similar phones ever. The Droid X has Android, a high res 4.3-inch screen, Verizon, and a hump in back. The iPhone 4 has iOS, a higher res 3.5-inch screen, and some of the slimmest smartphone dimensions ever. Sure, they're both flagship handsets for their respective teams, but we'd really rather live in a world where Droid X and iPhone 4 hang out after work for drinks than one where they stab each other in their silicon hearts. Sure, there'd be a bit of banter, but isn't there always between friends?Droid X vs. iPhone 4... hang out! originally appeared on Engadget on Wed, 23 Jun 2010 18:20:00 EST. The Star Wars Kid is back and he’s going to be a lawyer
Posted on June 3, 2010 | No Comments
It was eight years ago that Ghyslain Raza slashed his way into our hearts with his Star Wars Kid video. Sadly, Raza suffered from severe bullying and abuse for his video and eventually ended up in a psychiatric ward for children. However, his video was seen 1 billion times and multiple thousands of geeks came immediately to his defense. While those must have been the worst years of his life, things are now looking up.
He and his family sued the kids who leaked the video for $250,000, settled, and that seemed to be the end of it. Now, however, Ghyslain just became the president of the Patrimoine Trois-Rivières, a heritage society dedicated to conserving his hometown in Quebec. He's also working on law degree at McGill in Montreal.

Meizu CEO Jack Wong leaks, pulls M9 pics
Posted on June 1, 2010 | No CommentsJack Wong, why does he tease us so? If you haven't been following the M8 forums as religiously as you used to, you might have missed the news that our man in Guangdong leaked the definitive blurrycam photos of what appears to be the Meizu M9 Android handset. Not long after leaking the pics he deleted the post and closed all threads, explaining: "sorry, my fault. i am just too excited and wanna share with your guys." Although his cavalier attitude might end up breaking a few hearts 'round here, we can definitely appreciate his enthusiasm. One more pic after the break.Continue reading Meizu CEO Jack Wong leaks, pulls M9 pics

Peek’s Project Big Stuff revealed as software update
Posted on April 26, 2010 | No Comments
Well this is boring. At least it sounds boring. Peek announced a few weeks back that the company was working on some big stuff. Like, legitimately big stuff. Now we hear by way of the WSJ that this so-called Project Big Stuff is just a software update. It better be a damn big software update to keep our attention.

iPad runs circles around Snapdragon-powered Nexus One
Posted on April 5, 2010 | No CommentsSo, the iPad? I hear it's good, but again, it's not for me—don't cry. But what's indisputable? The fact that it's pretty damn fast. Even though the processor is nothing more than a stock Apple A4, it wallops the fancy Snapdragon, the 1GHz CPU found in the Nexus One (and others). The iPad: useful (to some), and quite quick. Neat.

This is pretty much PAX East 2010
Posted on March 27, 2010 | No CommentsIf one, and only one, photo could be said to represent PAX East 2010, I’m gonna said it’d be this one. Two gentleman in full-on cosplay mode (unless that’s just what they wear every day!), hunched over a computer monitor, playing to their hearts’ content. It almost brings a tear to your eye. -
The Origin EON15 is the ugly ducking of gaming notebooks
Posted on March 24, 2010 | No Comments
The Origin EON15 gaming notebook is a computer after our own hearts. Instead of a crazy and so-called radical computer case that the company no doubt spent too much money developing, the Origin EON15 is packaged in a no-frills casing. This means more power for the money, kids. And we like the cheap power.

Adobe Flash 10.1 holds out for Windows Phone 7, 6.5 devices can haz upgrade to WP7?
Posted on February 25, 2010 | No CommentsJust the other day, hearts were broken all over the world when Microsoft said that current Windows Mobile 6.5 devices won't be able to upgrade to Windows Phone 7. The good news is that might not entirely be true as Microsoft said on Twitter that it's entirely up to hardware manufacturers. Way to confuse us! Another area where WinMo 6.5 gets no love? Adobe Flash 10.1.

Leaked Sense ROM with landscape mode looks wider than it is tall
Posted on December 28, 2009 | No CommentsLandscape orientation: a bastion of width-lovers everywhere. Indeed, hearts have to be melting on news that the leaked T-Mobile USA-branded HD2 ROM -- which has somehow made it onto some Touch Pro2s thanks to xda-developers' usual black magic -- seems to have revealed a new landscape mode for Sense, the beautified WinMo skin formerly known as TouchFLO. Though this makes a ton of sense for devices like the Touch Pro2 that actually need to be used sideways when the keyboard's deployed, we think it'll find plenty of use on slates like the HD2, too. Won't it?Leaked Sense ROM with landscape mode looks wider than it is tall originally appeared on Engadget Mobile on Mon, 28 Dec 2009 10:11:00 EST. Please see our terms for use of feeds.

Study: Americans consume 34 gigabytes of information per day
Posted on December 9, 2009 | No CommentsThere's a pretty interesting report that was just published today entitled “How much information?” It was put together by the Global Information Industry of the University of California at San Diego. It looks at the year 2008 and tries to quantify how much information the average American consumes across all forms of media: TV, newspaper, Web sites, radio, you name it. When you crunch all the numbers, it looks like the average American consumes 34 gigabytes of data every single day. (That's 3.6 zettabytes in total.) That's a lot, yes.

Oh Gateway LT3103, you bucked the netbook trend all the way into our hearts with the inclusion of the AMD Athlon 64 L110 CPU and ATI Radeon graphics. Now you are being refurbished and sold for just $270 with a six-cell battery and 2GB of RAM.
