The sights of E3 2010
Posted on June 16, 2010 | No CommentsThe Electronic Entertainment Expo is the gaming industry’s equivalent of the Consumer Electronic Show and the North American International Auto Show. It’s a massive show filled with game demos, over-the-top booths, and scantly-claded booth babes. It’s heaven. Click through for a large photo gallery that will give you a taste of what you’re missing. -
Heaven forefend! Has Nintendo’s 3DS announcement killed the DSi XL?
Posted on March 31, 2010 | No CommentsNOT FOR KIDS! In all honesty, I don’t think the DSi XL is part of Nintendo’s standard line-up. It’s a reaction to the popularity of the Wii in retirement centers and is aimed at a much older – and much different audience – than the new 3D DS, aptly named the 3DS. Older folks who may [...] -
“This Is It” commemorative hard drive
Posted on February 8, 2010 | No CommentsNothing like a commemorative hard disk to remember one of the greatest pop stars of all time. At least, that’s exactly what Samsung was thinking when they thought up this one. Now when people ask you what that gaudy gold contraption on your desk is, you’ll have an answer other than censored from last night. Under [...] -

Posted on August 19, 2009 | No CommentsI liked the Dinobots as a kid and wouldn’t mind seeing them in the third Transformers movie, but who am I kidding? I’m still unhappy with Prime’s moving lips. And for the record, I thought Revenge of the Fallen was entertaining even though Sam ends up in Prime heaven. Anyway, comicbookmovie.com is reporting that Bay was [...] -
DIY: Eco-responsible super fridge
Posted on August 17, 2009 | No Comments
One of the problems with modern society going "green" is that many of our appliances are inherently inefficient. Take for example the refrigerators and freezers that many of us use. A vertical fridge/freezer combination just isn't that energy efficient, even if it is "energy star" rated. Most fridges waste upwards of 365 kWh a year. So what can be done?

We're fairly certain that Apple is adding cameras to their iPod line but could they also be adding video and audio recording capabilities including, heaven forefend, VoIP?
Wired has some info that the new iPods will have built-in video and audio recording and should support Skype chat.

Japanese cell phones for the world: NEC and Panasonic plot new overseas sales plans
Posted on July 6, 2009 | No Comments
Japan, the world's second largest economy with the third biggest Internet population, and the many, many early adopters of technology inhabiting this nation could be heaven for the domestic cell phone industry. And it was for years, until sales started slowing dangerously (minus 30% last fiscal year), and the overall population is poised to shrink and age dramatically in the future.
These two developments made a handful of Japanese cell phone makers think about moving away from creating all those fancy Nippon-only phones they've been producing for years. Now NEC and Panasonic seem to be finally ready to export some models - as early as next fiscal year, according to Japan's biggest business newspaper Nikkei.
